Hi, Lines across TV are caused by leaky condensers. Horizontal lines mean the faulty condenser causing the lines is located in the vertical section of the TV's PCB. You will most likely have to get a technician to repair it unless you are very good with electronics and soldering. Shouldnt be very expensive as the components are dirt cheap, Its just the labour cost that may be pricey. Best of luck.

Do you have a green light that flashes and then goes off? You need instalation kit# 4835 310 57673, The chassis# is probably an L04.1U AA, correct? What you will do is correct the horizontal timing so everything will come on at the same time. After you install you will see red, blue, and green horizontal lines at the top of your screen.......this is normal when you power up your TV. This is a factory authorized repair.

I was just watching TV and all of a sudden the screen minimized down to a single green line spanning across the screen horizontally. The label in the back says it was made in 1996 so it is an old tv. Can anyone help?

I had the same problem, and I just updated the tv's drivers to the new 1.15 version. I don't see the green anymore.

Are the wavy lines horizontal or vertical? If they are horizontal and up near the top of the screen it could be 60HZ interference from a power cord running over the cable from the DVD player to the TV. There could also an internal breakdown of the shielding by the power supply of the DVD player. If the lines are vertical it is likely the cable or maybe the input jack on the TV. Could be a number of things.

First, Id like to know how old is your unit? Also, the lines indicates in issue with regards to the lifespan of your tube. The dominant green color has something to do with a malfunctioning ray gun of your tube. However, i had encounter a unit that was resolved by simply resoldering the circuitry of same problem.
Why dont you try to resolder the board first.

could be the transformer due to the price you paid for the tv might be wothwhile having it replaced

Your DVD player may be set up to put out a different mode. Are you using the component cables or s-video? If it's the component cables, make sure you're player is putting out 480p. Also, try it with another set to see of you can localize the problem.
