Acer eLock Management
Acer eLock Management is a security utility that allows you to lock your removable data, optical and floppy
drives to ensure that data cannot be stolen while your notebook is unattended.

Removable data devices - includes USB disk drives, USB pen drives, USB flash drives, USB MP3 drives,
USB memory card readers, IEEE 1394 disk drives and any other removable disk drives that can be
mounted as a file system when plugged into the system.

Optical drive devices - includes any kind of CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drives.
Floppy disk drives - 3.5-inch disks only.
Interfaces - includes serial ports, parallel port, infrared (IR), and Bluetooth.
To activate Acer eLock Management, a password must be set first. Once set, you can apply locks to any of the
devices. Lock(s) will immediately be set without any reboot necessary, and will remain locked after rebooting,
until unlocked.

You can try this:

You can reset the system to its default settings (all devices unlocked) by removing the password (leave the password fields blank when changing the password).

You also may be able to simply uninstall the e-lock software in add remove programs.

Is there an icon in your system tray that may allow you to disable e-lock?

SOURCE: acer optical drive device locked

without knowing which version of the program you got I can suggest for you to:

press start
select run

or

hold down windowskey and press r

type in services.msc

find the elock service, right click properties, disable the service, and stop the service.

you may need to set a new drive letter for the optical drives
(right click my computer - manage - left side disk management - find drives without letters, right click assing or change drive letter)

if you can't uninstall the program? its asking for a password? Its extremely easy to reset the password but would need to know what version of the software your running.

SOURCE: Started receiving message "Warning --

For that you need to disable lock in bios.
When you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or ALT+F2 key to enter in bios .
Then you can see bios enter in bios and load optimal defaults.
Then save settings and exit.
If elock is enable then disable.
If you are not able to enter in bios if it ask for password then you need to reset bios.
For that you need to open back cover of laptop then find motherboard and pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes then all settings defaults.
Then check.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Acer e lock activated??????????????

I've researched this and it appears simply uninstalling the elock software may resolve it - if this is not a feature you require.
Since it is an Acer specific issue you may contact the manufacturer for assistance while it is under warranty.

Acer e lock activated??????????????

I have a working workaround solution to this problem - save yourself 100usd (what acer requests from the unlocking) and press the ask me button to send me the free(FREE POST TO FORUM) request, Il give you the workaround, will take less than 10 minutes to solve the problem, really not worth it to pay 100usd for something this silly.

Il possibly soon make a video tutorial on how its done but for now, send me a request and il tell you how to get rid of the problem.
