Scott TV remote not working

I have a Scott LCD 37 inch flat screen tv. When I use the remote that came with it the power will not come. I can turn the power on manually by the button on the tv. I changed batteries in the remote and still nothing.I even bought a universal remote and still no fix. Someone said the infra red sensor might be out on the tv...anyone heard of this?

Yes the sensors on all sets go bad and the remote signals will never get to the eprom chip that takes the signals and processes them

Olevia 37" LCD TV will
my olevia a 232 s12 2nd hand tv . gift from a relative wont power on .just had the blue light on.i was able to reset my 32 inch olevia by pressing and holding down the power button much like a computer to reboot.might work for you.

Pluged tv in made apop and now will not work at all its a 37 inch scott flat screen
The bulb may have blown or you may have blown something on the board.

Either way, the TV is broken and not likely to be worth repairing. 37" LCD TVs sell for under $500 regular price.

I just want to clear things here.
The stand by light will remain on whenever the tv set is turned on by a button on the side of the tv.

Then use your remote to turn on the tv, but wait as it can take 10secs before you get a picture.

Blue screen on my haier 37 inch tv
my tv just went to a blue screen one day. I can turn it on and then it will just remain on the blue screen. Any button (except the volume) I push on the remote comes up on the screen "no signal". What would you suggest? I have been reading about replacing a fuse or board? Most of those are on the 42 inch version---I have teh 37 inch version.

Scott lcd tv does not turn on
We just repaired ours - same problems (did not replacc the 1000uF and 470uF Capacitors in secondary yet as ours were still OK, but the FET was killed by an arcing capacitor across a diode,

Scott LCD won't turn on with remote or with on button
Do not shut off the TV. Put cardboard in front of screen when not watching.
MY THEORY
The power serge when the TV is turned on puts a stress on the caps (ac to dc volts) .
Continued off -on weakens the caps until failure.

Mintex 37 inch wide screen. remote is working however cannot change channel, input source or volum. only turns tv off. The buttone on tv doesnot work connot change input source or volume
Check if the remote is in TV position, that is, because most of the remote controllers have the feature that you can program them for use with another devices. Make shure that one button that says "TV" in pressed and released once before you try to change any function on the TV.
