Denon AVR-3805 zone 2 no longer working

The display says "multi-zone" but no sound coming from zone 2 speakers. I can't seem to set the volume any longer. Any ideas?

Can you give any advice on how to program the multizone to just allow you to use addtional speakers? I have speakers in my kitchen: I want to play TV through front mains and CD on Kitchen speakers. How do I set up Zone 2 or 3 to accomplish this? Many thanks, the manual is terrible on this subject.

Time to reset the microprocessor. See page 87 in manual.
1) switch off the unit using the main unit's power operation (small power button)
2) hold the PURE DIRECT button and DIRECT button at same time and turn the main unit's power operation on.
3) wait for entire display to flash in 1 second intervals

now the speakers need to be set up again but zone 2 will be working. i suspect a power surge causes the microprocesser to be corrupted. i put a power surge protector and have not had problems (lately).

If no sound coming through Zone 2, steps that worked are below. Layout: Denon AVR-988 running in 5.1 mode with patio speakers designated as Zone 2: 1) check that patio speaker wires are connected to Denon's back surround speaker terminals, 2) check "Menu then "Manual Setup" and scroll to check that "Amp Assign function is set to "Zone 2". You won't get Zone 2 sound unless this is chosen in this instance. Also check the volume settings in the "Manual Setup" to ensure you haven't turned sound down by -40 DB or limited it. Now try turing on Zone 2 sound either on front panel or on rear of remote. If you still have no sound, what worked for me is there's a Zone 2/Rec Out pushbutton on front left top panel by round input knob. This must be set to "Zone 2 Source" and not "Rec Out Source".to avoid diverting the signal to the Rec Out jacks. Keep turning the input select button until it reads "Zone 2 Source". Then turn on and this should route the signal to your Zone 2 speakers. srhfish

I hv a Denon AVR 3805, i tried to set it up but after doing all the necessary, i found out that it was only running on 3 speakers (FL,FR & SW). I did connect the center speaker but the sound just...

SW means sub woofer, not necessary means center speaker in all receivers. Instead of setting 5ch stereo, if you have 3 speakers. try to set "3channel" or "simulated". If you own more than 3 speakers, you may refer to the user´s manual to correctly wire them to get the full sound.

Denon avr 3805 2 zone configuration, I added optical sound from TIVO and now zone 2 is not working. I did the test of the speakers and they all work. I have configured the main for 5 channel stereo.

Zone 2 needs an analog input to work, if you pulled the analog from tivo, put it back on. Digital will not pass on zone 2. If your analog is still connected as well, go into your receivers settings for audio and select "auto" not "digital" Check the settings on tivo as well. make sure it's audio output is set to "auto" if available. If it's not, it's default is "auto" and will output simeltaneously on all outputs. Hope this helps. If you need more help, post a comment and I will help some more.

Denon AVF988 to power amp to whole house speakers

jbell302, Check both remote spkers for operation from the A spks output if good, switch B remote spks to A main connect & main A spks to the B remote connection on the Denon spks outputs . Most amp sources do not like different ohm spks types & different cable or spks A-B. lenghts, because this makes up to resistances problems, making the amp to work harder & understanding what is going on. THE AMPS PROTECTION CIRCUIT IS AT ALERT & TRIES TO BALANCE THE RESISTANCE VOLUME. Best move is to try use the same spks. lenght & a higher qauge wire; 12.14.18qa. to better balance the output volume! All matching spks. pairs would help alot as well!

Denon AVR-4802 multi-zone problem.

I had the same questions and still can't believe there isn't more information on the topic. It's crazy how much marketing Denon devotes to their Multi-Zone features yet offers very little reference materials on the actual set up. I guess most customers don't use the fearture? Here you go:

-The Multi-Zone on the Denon 4802 is analog only. If you are running digital coax or fiber you will have to run a second line that's analog (eg RCA red/white) from the source to the Denon in order for the signal to to make it to the Zone 2 speakers (regardless if it's Pre-Amp out or direct connect to the Zone 2 speakers from the multi/SB speaker outs. Regarding the Harmony question, I had the same problem with my Harmony 880 and wasn't able to find an answer after multiple searches. Luckily I figured it out when I deleted the receiver from the Logitec device list and started over. Connect the remote to your computer, launch the Logitec Harmony Remote Software, click the Devices tab, hit the Add Device, pick the device type & manufacturer from the drop down list, enter "AVR-4802" under Model and finally hit the Next button in the lower right corner of the UI. The next page solves the Harmony Zone 2 control problem. You will see a message "To use your device in additional zones/rooms, click the checkbox...." Make sure Room 2 is checked (mine was not), update the remote and you're done. The Harmony Device menu you will now contain a second receiver icon called "receiver 2." Hit "device" on the Harmony, choose "receiver 2" and you will gain control over Zone 2 including volume.

Good luck!

Denon AVR 883 Audio glitch

More than likely the protector circuit is getting activated... You can't go below 6 ohms on the surround back which means you need 12 ohm or higher speakers for outside (since the two outputs for surround back/zone2 are in parallel). As a simple diagnostic test, disconnect one speaker and see if the sound survives longer than 2 seconds.
