Audio Problems I have a fairly new setup.  I have mySR606 connected to my LG37 via HDMI cable.  I have my blue-ray player connected to the receiver via HDMI1, a regular dvd player connect via HDMI 2 and my xbox via HDMI 3.  Wii and direct tv are connected via Component.  Wii and Cable aer fine.  When I select my blue-ray player, I dont get audio.  If I connect from player to tv directly, I do.  Xbox works fine until I try to watch something on it via netflix.  Im pretty much a newbie when it comes to receivers, soo please take it easy on me... Thanks for any and all help.

This will depend on the Blue ray player and other equipment. For a direct connection to the receiver, if your player has either type of digital audio output (coaxial or optical), get the appropriate cables. Then connect the chosen cable between the Blue ray player and the receiver. Connect the Blue ray player to the TV with an HDMI cable. See page 10 of the manual, available at http://pdfstream.manualsonline.com/6/69f43064-f593-49b8-8d4a-23174b496e65.pdf , to see the connections for the audio sources. (I'll assume your Blue ray player doesn't have component video out or you would use the component audio to the receiver.)

If your player doesn't have a digital audio output, check your TV audio output. You can get the same result by sending the videos via HDMI to the TV and using the TV audio out to the receiver. Set the audio source to TV and leave it there for both TV and Blue ray and DVD videos. (Sometimes there could be a slight delay in the audio compared with the video signal when you do this. I've never noticed it with my Blue ray player signal going to the TV and the TV digital audio out to the Denon receiver.)

If you can't send the audio out to the receiver from either your Blue ray player or TV, then you will need some sort of HDMI audio extractor. You can find models with Analog Audio Out, Digital Audio Out or both. ( https://www.amazon.com/J-Tech-Digital-Extractor-Converter-JTDAT5CH/dp/B00BIQER0E lists units with both types of audio output. One models requires a 3.5 mm to RCA audio adapter.)

The optical connection (SPDIF) doesn't have enough bandwidth to transfer DTS-HD audio. To use DTS-HD, you must connect the blue-ray player and receiver via HDMI cable.

Each DTS-HD audio track on blue-ray includes also "normal" DTS audio, which is probably used when you select PCM. Player decodes it and sends decoded (non-HD) audio via optical cable to receiver.

the details you provided were very vague, however from my experience when a device is connected to another device via and audio capable hdmi cable, that device renders it audio output to the device its connected to and normally turn off all other audio outputs beside optical- I would assume there is an option in the blue ray player to turn off hdmi audio, which will in turn activate other audio outputs- you may also look for audio out port on your tv, it is ideal to connect the sound bar directly to the tv set audio out ports. To sum this up,
if you plan to use your player via hdmi cable you need to turn off hdmi audio output on the blue ray player and the plug an audio cable from your blue-ray player to your sound bar
you may also as i said connect your sound bar directly to your tv, the issue is most tv sets now a days do not have an audio out port, if you do then everything you play thru your tv will have audio via sound bar
there are several way to go here but unless your sound bar has hdmi av switching capabilities (im sure not) this is one of the most simple--Good Luck.

Don't think there is a way to make that happen with your setup

As per HTR-6230 specifications (http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/productdetail.html?CNTID=5028494&CTID=5000400&ATRID=1020&DETYP=ATTRIBUTE) the HDMI function is only "audio-passthru", which means your receiver is not able to get the audio from HDMI cable, it can only pass it forward to TV. You would need a receiver with "HDMI switch" to be able to listen to audio via HDMI cable. You can find such receiver by looking if it supports TrueHD audio (which can be transferred ONLY via HDMI cable).

With your current receiver, you can connect it to the Blue-ray player via Optical SPDIF cable. I have checked the specs and both receiver and BD player supports optical connection.

This must be configuration problem on the BD player. In this case receiver just outputs the signal it receives digitally. If it displayes PCM 2ch, that means it receives only 2 channel audio from BD player.
You can try to configure the BD player not to decode audio and to output the RAW stream over coax cable to the receiver. Then the receiver should get raw Dolby Digital encoded data and be able to decode it into 5.1 channels. It should also display Dolby D instead of PCM in such case.

There are several video and audio inputs named DVD. For video you have HDMI, component and composite. For audio you have standard analog stereo and digital coaxial spdif input.
You need to configure the receiver to use the correct inputs - that means HDMI and coax. Also you need to connect the BD player via coax spdif cable to the receiver, because rx-v365 doesn't support audio via HDMI. If BD player has only optical output, use DTV/CABL HDMI input and DTv/CABL Optical input on the receiver.

I have the same problem with my RX-V565 receiver. Did you get this fixed?

HDMI compatibility issues continue to plague the industry and this more than likely is the problem. There are a couple of ways around this.Some people insist on "hot rodding" the dvd and tv by hooking up directly to each other avoiding the receiver all togeether (I do this).But you lose functionality and it makes things more complicated for other family members. Your best bet is to use RGB and Digital audio cables.You won't notice any quality loss and there is a possibility it will look better.
