Same problem. New toner cartridge and imaging unit. The black is coming in light. We had the toner provider come by to check, since we bought generic toner and thought that it might be the toner. His guess was that whatever mechanism is relaying the toner to the imaging unit isn't working.

I have error message "replace y toner." I tried to print in black and white only, would not allow this. This is for Xerox Phaser 6120.

    URL is broken.

Check the Printer Driver settings to be sure it's not set to replace black with grayscale. There are drivers out there that can override this and make grayscale black and vice versa.

  • RanXer0x Oct 16, 2014

Troubleshoot: Print the configuration sheet from the printer. Then print a letter from the PC. If the printer configuration uses black for letters, and if the PC uses gray for the letter then it's a driver settings (or application setting) issue. You'll need to figure out which it is and reconfigure to use/allow black.

Which application are you using to print? What type of document are you printing? Letter (alpha-numeric only)? Or presentation (multiple colors)?

My xerox phaser 6250 prints the first page fine then the black fades on the following pages

Your toner supply route is partially plugged and it can't keep up with the demand. It's not an easy process to clean it but a can of air, toner vac, and an area you don't mind getting dirty are necessary. Pull the imaging unit out and dig around, blowing and vacuuming out toner. Also, pull the black toner cartridge and work through that way as well. If your black toner is low, that might be the problem.

Xerox Phaser 6250 yellow line at far left of page

Sounds like it is time to replace the imaging drum. This is a consumable and usually done every 15-20k pages. Cost is about $250-300 and very easily replaced, fast as changing a toner.

I am assuming that you tried changing the yellow toner already? If not, do that first...

Replace Transfer Roller

In the Phaser 6250 Color Laser Printer Service Manual (which I had to have emailed to me from my toner supplier since it is not available to the general public) I went to Chapter 6 - Error Messages and Codes. I had to reboot the printer. Here is the procedure.

Entering by rebooting the printer:

1. Turn the printer power OFF
2. Hold down the Back and Information buttons simutaneously and turn the printer
back on.
3. Continue to hold the buttons until the following message is displayed on the front
panel: Service Diagnostics V#.##, Initializing ....., and then release the buttons.
4. The front panel displays the Service Diagnostics Menu.

On the display is a menu. Find Transfer Roller. Press enter on this menu where it says Toner Waste (Not Full). Back out of the menu.

All of a sudden the machine came to life. You may have to turn off the printer and turn it back on again.

Good Luck

Xerox Phaser 6250 started printing bad

That really sounds like the imaging unit cleaner has an issue.
If you have one try the imaging unit, I really suspect that is your problem.
Black is Faded or Missing Step 1 Clean the Laser Windows and Remove Excess Toner From the Imaging Unit Step 2 Check or Replace the Imaging Unit Gear Retaining Pin Step 3 Replace the Imaging Unit (installation instructions) ic-film.gif

Xerox phaser 6250 NVRAM Failure

Cycle power, try cleaning the CTD (ADC) sensor and toner full sensor. This is what Xerox has to say about the NVRAM failure: On the front panel, press the key labeled i to view information about the error. Record the error code number. Turn off the printer. Reseat the fuser. Reseat the imaging unit. Reseat the toner cartridges. Turn on the printer. If the error continues to be displayed contact service. To be on the safe side you can follow the instructions here on the procedure to replace the transfer roler: http://office.support.xerox.com/SRVS/cgi-bin/webcgi.cgi Good luck
