Severe noise on monitor when viewing white area

Over the last while my monitor started showing noise on the top of the screen, it looks like lines (wavy or not) and it has progressed along the whole screen. It is ok when viewing just the wallpaper with a lot of colours and darker, but gets worse when opening a screen with a lot of white in it, to the point that it is unreadable. I tried an old fashioned CRT, and that worked fine, exchanged the cord, with no difference. And when I turn the monitor off and on again, it is good for about 5 seconds, then it comes back. It does not look like my computer, but seems to be the monitor only.

Although I still have the problem to a slight extent (very slight wavering of the vertical lines going from dark to light or white) reducing the contrast from 100% to 80% seemed to do the trick. Although this monitor is on the way out, it has lasted about 7-8 years now, at least it will keep going for a while.

There are white lines in monitor of my nikon s4300...help??

I'm afraid only a technician can repair this. Perhaps some parts must be replaced.
If the camera still makes good pictures, perhaps you better learn to live with the lines. Check is the white lines appear on an image you view on your computer. If so, the sensor or processor is damaged. Then you better start looking for a new camera, because that will be cheaper than to repair you S4300

Screen went white

The white glow with no picture means that either the ribbon cable connection between the logic board and the monitor has come lose or dirty contacts, or the LCD Controller (T-CON) board (part of the LCD panel is not getting 5v or 12v depend on LCD panel from the logic board or the LCD controller board has blown fuse, see pictures here for guide (note pin on the LCD board with arrow mark is pin 1 and is the incoming DC power supply line): http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/LCD%20panel/?action=view&current=DSCF0881.jpg
You may also want to look for bad caps (bulging top) on the logic board. There should be 5vdc feeding the logic board also.

There is a thin white verticle line on the monitor.

Open this link and make it full-screen. Watch the screen for 20 seconds or so to see if the line of lit (white) pixels remain.

If this line remains during this, and even when the the computer is first starting up, it is most likely a row of "lit" pixels caused by a faulty connection or circuit inside the display.

While you can sometimes rub the area of the screen near a single lit pixel, an entire line of them usually denotes a more complex problem that can only be fixed by having parts replaced by a technician

Note: Be sure all of your cable connections are securely fitted, and that the line is there no matter what is displayed on the display (especially at the boot screen before Windows loads).

White thin line verticaly middle of lap top screen

Sounds like the monitor. Do you have another monitor to hook up to the laptop? If so, that will tell you precisely if it's the monitor or video card.

Squiggly lines in the center of the monitor

sounds like you have what are called dead pixels. This typically happens in monitors that are about 2+ years old. If you are still within warranty i would contact hp about getting it serviced.
