See this causes and fix it. God bless you
Touchpad and Control Panel If the microwave buttons don't work the touchpad and control panel assembly are probably defective.

Touchpad If the microwave buttons don't work the touchpad might be at fault. Generally speaking, if the display is working and some of the buttons respond correctly but some don't, the problem is with the touchpad.

User Control and Display Board If the microwave buttons don't work the main control board is most likely defective and will need to be replaced.

Main Control Board If the microwave buttons don't work the main control board is most likely defective and will need to be replaced.

A bad keypad may be worn out due to age, damaged, or it may have gotten wet or otherwise contaminated. Moisture and contamination can be caused by not using the hood fan when boiling on the stove top, spraying of cleaners, by storing the microwave in an unheated garage or shed, or infestation. I warn my customers to never spray cleaner directly onto the microwave keypad, since the liquid can get inside and "lock up" or even ruin the keypad or controller. Apply an alcohol-based cleaner (such as the purple kind) to a cloth (since paper towels can scratch) and gently wipe it off. I suggest to my customers that they NEVER use any ammonia-based cleaner (like the blue stuff) on a microwave, since the ammonia will crack and distort polycarbonate plastics. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety and disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your base model number (without the suffix) here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

What does the code 5E mean

The 5E (SE) code indicates a problem with the keypad. A temporary solution may be to unplug the microwave and then reconnect the power cord. (Since the MMV1163DB is a microwave/hood, you may find it easier to turn off the power at your circuit breaker.)
However, you will probably need to replace the keypad or fix the wiring between the keypad and the control unit. If the microwave is under warranty (1 year from date of purchase), contact Maytag at 1-800-688-9900 . One potential solution is to check for damage to the wire between the keypad and the central control unit in the microwave. If you are handy, you can try the procedure that can be found with a Google search. Look for a link to an ApplianceJunk.com forum on the 5E code. However, I can't recommend the procedure for most since it is very easy to break the ribbon cables or their connecting tabs. http://www.maytagpartsonline.com/modellookup/index/thirdstep/keyword/MMV1163DB/model_no/MMV1163DB00/model_id/351623/diagram_id/10797553 has the parts breakdown for the microwave. Check for the correct panel based on the exterior surface of your microwave.

I hope this helps.

Error code SE on Maytag Microwave

The error code SE stands for " Systems Error " which indicates there is a short in the keypad membrane causing the system to lock up. The only option is to have the keypad replaced for normal operation.

Screen displays -SE- , none of the keypad buttons work

The word -SE- , means systems error, the cause is a short in the membrane of the keypad. The only solution is the keypad must be replaced.

Display and touch buttons inoperative on MMV4205BAW Microwave Oven. Only abt 2 yrs old...

The keypad controller has probably developed a short in the membrane of the keypad, it must be replaced in order to get it up and running, but I suggest a maytag repairman to address this.

Keypad does not respond on Maytag microwave MMV5100AAQ.

What usually causes keypad failure is cleaning... spraying it directly with a cleaning solution instead of using a moist cloth on it.
Otherwise, it could be a bad door sensing switch or control PCB. If you haven't already tried this, unplug the unit from the wall outlet for atleast 1 hour and see if it might reset...

Broken microwave

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour.

Then please let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

(It may need work on the controller or keypad)
