Sounds like its time to replace the projection lamp. While your at it,make sure to clean any dust from around the cooling fan,and make sure the fan is working.
Good Luck!

  1. First try Magic Focus
  2. if this will not fix problem
  3. then you have a convergence problem
  4. You will need the Converg. Kit

Unplug the TV from the ac wall outlet for about 4 minutes then plug it back in and turn it on. If it still has a double image then tell me if it's affecting the menu screen from the TV (not the cable menu). And is the double image in red and blue?

SOURCE: Picture shadow on rear projection Sony big screen TV

You have 2 distinct problems that should be addressed separately. Please repost the Samsung problem. I will address the Sony problem here.

If the "shadow" makes the picture seem somewhat of a 3D one, the problem is with the convergence circuit. This could be as simple as bad connections on the pins of the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you can solder and would like to attempt the repair, update this and I'll provide more details and instructions.

Tv turns on but has a shadow around evrything

Do you have any speakers or magnets next to the tv? If so, that is not good.
It may be a convergance issue. Check to see if you have any adjustments on the back of your tv to adjust picture. If not, if may be a faulty capacitor that needs to be replaced

Picture is fuzzy and color seems faded

Sounds like your coolant in the tubes need to be repalced. This is a common problem as the set gets older. Check with www.TvRepairKits.com for the supplies and instruction guide.

Blurred TV - double vision with red hue

I was searching online about what could be the problem with our TV and I came across your page. We have a 52" JVC Projection TV that now has a "blurred" screen. We can see the channels but it looks like it's has a shadow around the images. The screen in in a red hue with green blur.

If you have any suggestions on what caused this and what we can do to have this fixed, I would greatly appreciate your advice.

Red Shadow

UNDER THE FRONT DOOR PRESS THE BOTTOM BUTTON "FLASH FOCUS" AND SEE IF IT FIXES IT. IF NOT AND YOU SEEN RED DOUBLE OF THE IMAGE, THEN THE SET PROBABLY NEEDS THE CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT REPAIRED.

There are failures occuring in the scann and convergence circuits. This may not be feasible to service.
