Brother cs-8060 wheel knocks

I just turned on my machine and when I press on the pedal, there is a loud knocking sound as the manual wheel turns. If I turn it by hand it still knocks/clicks and won't turn smoothly. I have never had this happen before. It still stitches and the bobbin and top thread all seem fine.

Install a brand new needle

Perform any maintenance recommended in your owner's manual, ie oiling.

If the sound continues, take it for service as something major could be a problem.

SOURCE: mass bunching of thread in the bobbin compartment

it had nothing to do with the shuttle, it is the upper thread is not in the tensioner. lift the presser foot up and thread the machine even if you have to hold the thread on the top and pull on the bottom to make it go in the tensioner it will help, if a machine loops on the bottom it is the upper tension if it loops on the top it is the lower tension

SOURCE: Shirring fabric?

When putting your shirring elastic on the bobbin, don't thread the elastic through the bobbin holder, adjust the stitch length longer, and loosen the tension, other wise if you want to put it through the bobbin holder you have to loosen the tension screw on the bobbin holder, and then you have to adjust it back for ordinary sewing,

SOURCE: Brother CS-6000i - the bobbin thread is not coming

Check list:

1 - Flat side of the needle is facing the back of the machine.

2 - Threaded machine with the presser foot up - always.

3 - Bobbin thread is feeding from the spool in the correct direction and through the proper guides.

Lower and raise the threaded needle, holding onto the end of the thread.

If this does not pull the bobbin thread up, the timing may need adjusting.

There is a graphic for doing this as sewusa.com or take it into the dealer for service.

I have a brand new brother sewing machine (XM2701) I have only used it 3 times. It was working fine then started making a knocking sound. I did everything I was told to do and it still knocks. I recorded...

Try the following.

Presser foot up.
Rotate handwheel so needle up.
Remove top thread, spool, and bobbin.

Power off

Select straight stitch pattern 2.
Select stitch width 2.5 - needle position middle.
Set tension to 4.

Power on.

  1. Press foot pedal.
  2. If still knocks, remove needle.
  3. Press foot pedal.
  4. If still knocks, move bobbin winding spindle all the way right and back all the way left.
  5. Press foot pedal.
  6. If still knock, remove bobbin case (pg 47 in manual)
  7. Press foot pedal.
  8. if here and still knock... not sure what it is.

I have a brother cs-8060 sewing machine but I don't have the manual for it. When I start to sew the machine makes a loud sound the and woont sew normally and then I get an E6 flashing on the machine.

An E6 error indicates a thread tangle. Combined with the noises you are hearing my guess would be that the tangle is around the take-up lever pivot and is seizing the machine (causing an overload - hence why it won't sew). The origin of this is often a further thread tangle between the tension disks, which has allowed the thread to fly loosely around the take-up. Your best bet will be to take it to your local sewing centre. This is the sort of issue we commonly address as a part of servicing. You will find a description of what you might try in the Service Centre section of our shop's website http://www.kornacraft.com.au/sewingcentre-under-the-covers/

Machine jammed

Turn off the power and remove the needle and presser foot.

Open the needle plate and bobbin case and clean the area, removing lint and the jammed thread.

Make sure the bobbin case is properly in place.

There is a maintenance section in the manual to show you how to remove the bobbin case and clean the machine.

Install a new needle with the flat side to the back of the machine.

Rethread the machine with the presser foot up.

Make sure the thread from the bobbin is feeding from the bobbin spool in the correct direction and through the proper guides.

If you need a manual, you can download one at Brother.com.
