SOURCE: I got a craftman 32cc

Did you check the fuel filter in the tank for plugging and the condition of the length of fuel line that connects it to the carburetor inlet? Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Primer bulb won't hold prime

Check the fuel filter, air filter, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Remove the carburetor and check the impulse passage that runs from the crankcase, through the gaskets and heat insulator, to the carburetor base--these impulses cause the carburetor to pump fresh fuel into itself. You may need to clean the carburetor inside and out with spray carburetor cleaner. Check the diaphragm in the lower chamber for softness and no damage. Go to: http://www.drystacked.com for a 12 page article on Walbro brand carburetors for theory and troubleshooting--this applies to other brand carburetors as well. Hope some of this helps!

New carb on wacker bs50-2i still wont start unless i pour fuel down carb

Press primer until fuel fills bulb and flows out carburetor. If no fuel in primer bulb then check connections.

Check fuel line connections by disconnecting retun line to tank (without filter) and pressing primer bulb. Fuel should draw from tank (filter), into bulb, out bulb to carb and expel out carburetor. If not the bad lines, filter, or lines not connected correctly.

With fuel primed, turn both high and low speed needles in (CW) until seated, do not tighten. Then turn needles out 1 1/2 turns for initial settings. These settings are only to get unit running. Increase idle speed setting if engine stalls. Adjust low speed, then high speed and lower idle speed back to normal.

Chainsaw wont stay running Runs 30sec to about 1 1/2 min seems to be starved for fuel

Initial carb setting is 1 full turn out on both low and high side and retry. If no difference, then turn the low side out and additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn CCW. If that makes no difference, then it's time for a carburetor rebuild.

Chainsaw will not continue to run

Their should be 3 to 4 Carb adjustments "L" for low "H" for high the "I" for Idle, adjust the screws till their all the way shut and 1/4 turns each till it starts up, but if it starts as you say it does just adjust the Idle speed.

Wild thing chainsaw won't stay running. I replaced all fuel lines, primer bulb, fuel filter, gaskets to the carb. and have cleaned the carb out very well and blew out all passages. I pulled the spark...

On the carburetor got two screws to adjust the carburetor. The first is to adjust the saw when working at high speeds. Another is when running at low revs. It is best to either put back for about 1.5 cycle of the maximum of the end of the rotation of the screws. If then the saw starts, then you can adjust it fine at higher revs (H), then at low (L). Have can be minimum screw that stops the chain.

Walbro WT891 carb on a Craftsman chainsaw. Carb is brand new, all fuel lines and fule filter replaced. I prime the carb with the little plunger, chainsaw starts up and runs out of fuel within 30 seconds....

Who connected these hoses? the normal routing for a machine with a primer is like this, the fuel hose from the tank with the filter on the end goes to the carb fuel inlet nozzel ( not to the primer ) nearest to the pump cover ( cover on carb held with one screw ) the pipe from the metering side of the carb connects to the shorter nozzel on the primer bulb ( suction side ), the longer nozzel on the primer ( pressure side ) connects to the pipe going back to the tank, just remember the primer pulls fuel from the carb, into the bulb, and pushes it back into the tank, it is not actually a primer it is a purge. because it is connected this way it is impossible to flood the engine no matter how many times the bulb is pressed.
Let me know if it starts and runs.

Cratsman 40cc chainsaw will not run. i get it started and pull the throttle open and it wants to die, sounds like it starves for fuel. put new line from tank to carb, blew out carb, dont no settings for...

A quick test to see if it's running too lean (starved for fuel) is to gently push the primer bulb. If the motor spins up (revs), it's likely a clogged high speed jet. If it stalls immediately, then it's running too rich and you need to cut back on the high jet.

See http://www.repairfaq.org/samnew/lmfaq/lmadjc.htm for some quick and dirty (but good) instructions on adjusting the jets to fine-tune your engine.

As for the primer tube, if the bulb pulls fuel and fills up when pumped 3-8 times, then things are fine. If the bulb never gets fuel, then you may have identified a potential cause (missing tube).

I have a 21cc craftsman gas line trimmer part number

1. the main fuel inlet line should have enough line to let the fuel filter set on the bottom of the tank and slide to the side when the trimmer is turned sideways.
2. The screw that holds the inlet needle lever pin on the metering side of the carb gets tightened down and is not adjustable. The adjustment is in the lever itself.
3. the throttle plate would go closest to the crankcase and the choke would be away.
4. The brass inlet that goes directly to the fuel pump side of the carb is the main fuel line ( with the fuel filter on the other end in the tank).
5. the low speed screw ( usually marked with an L or LO) is always the closest one to the crankcase. It should be 1 and 1/2 turns out from bottom ( of course you will likely need to adjust from the starting point- almost all poulans need 2 turns (( craftsman is a poulan)). If there are 2 screws the one furthest from the cranckcase od the high speed. Start at 1 and 1/4 turn out for that. To adjust hold throttle wide open and turn out till you hear that 2-stroke cackle. Turn the screws out for richer and in for leaner. Set the low speed first. Turning out and richening up the lo will drop the idle so you will likely need to turn in the idle screw half a turn for every half a turn you turn out the lo jet. Then adjust the hi for a cackle and good performance under load.
