When hose is attached vacuum stops

I have a electrolux 6500 sr when vacuum is put under load ( ex. hose is attached or suction hole is covered ) the vacuum shuts down and the bag full light comes on. If there is no load put on the vacuum it will run fine. Any ideas?

Accessory compatibility between Electrolux Models 1521 and Epic 6500 SR

No, they have different connectors. 1521 uses a pigtail hose that has little metal clips. 6500 has a plastic end with an arrow that helps guide you for proper placement. Unfortunately you will need 2 separate hoses for the respective models.

You need to have the vacuum cleaned out. If you are good with tools, just remove the motor and fans assembly, take the fans off and wash them. Brush ALL dirt out of the housing and reassemble. Your Electrolux dealer can do this but it isn't cheap. I used to be the service manager for my area. Since it isn't under warranty, you can have ANY reliable vacuum cleaner shop give a good cleanout. NEVER put anything into the cleaner to make it smell good. Electrolux cleaners get their power by having a straight through suction. The air goes through the motor. Adding smelly things can crystallize onto the motor and burn it out.

Electrolux Epic 6500 Vacuum - Suction stops when hose is attached

If the bag full light keeps coming on, you can first try adjusting the dial on top of the vacuum cleaner. If that does not work, then you need to change the control valve. This is an internal component of the canister and is directly below the dial.

You can ship the vacuum to http://evacuumstore.com/ and they can reapir it for you.

Series 6500 SR won't start

Look for a restriction somewhere in the suction system. Inspect every last inch of it so you know it is clear.

Series 6500 motor shuts off, vacuum continues to run, not suction

It's tripping the temperature overload in the motor. The most common cause for this is a clogged hose. Take the hose loose and attach it to the exhaust port under the back cover. You should be able to see if it's clogged and unclog it. I might also suggest taking it to your dealer. I don't think that machine's power nozzle should run if the overload is tripped. It sounds like the wiring may have been modified for some reason, but I can't swear to it. Good Luck!!

Electrolux Epic 6500 SR series

Ok i found a solution for my Electrolux Epic 6000 which had the exact same symptoms as you describe. I fixed it by disabling the "bag full sensitivity adjustor" (BFSA for short, for the lack of a better term). For that i opened the case, removed the hose that was preventing me from opening complety the casing, unscrewed the transaparent BFSA mechanism.

Here's the walkthrough:

- Open the case: Open the top part of the vacuum (where the bag is)
- Remove the 2 side rubber by sliding them from the back to the front of the vaccuum
- Remove the "plastic cap" at the end of the vacuum (you can slightly lift the vacuum top part to make it easier)
- Now unplug a small air hose to be able to open the case completely.
- Find the BFSA device and unscrew it.
- Now give your vacuum a try... it worked for me.
