SOURCE: I have a brand new

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
This is a self-oiling industrial sewing machine that uses a reservior in the bottom of the unit for lubrication. There is a sight gage on the lower left side of the unit in the base that once filled with oil you will see the oil splashing as the machine operates. Since this is a new machine you fill the lower reservoir to the High mark on the sight gage and then operate it a 3000 Rpm for 10 minutes to do the initial self lubrication. Instructions are in section 6 of the users manual. The main unit is tilted on the base to service the oil in the lower reservior. They don't bother telling you that once the unit base is installed in the sewing console that you should then fill it with oil before installing the main unit on the base.

This link should download your users manual so you can read it on the computer. See page 3:

I need to put oil into my Juki ddl-8700 Industrial machine. I am terrified of doing something wrong and starting a fire. Instructions mention "oil splash". Please help me get started. Thank you

I just looked over an on-line version of owners manual. You have to put oil to high mark. Some small amount of oil splash seems normal. The machine is going to cause some vibration to the oil tank. As long as you have all adjustment right there should not be problems. Keep a small towel handy to wipe off any oil that comes out. If you don't have enough oil for the needle and machine the motor will lock up (seize) Be safe by always cutting power to machine if you are going to do any kind of service to it. Just as with a child, don't leave it running if you will be away from it for more than a couple of minutes.

No oil movement in bubble on top of machine

ead the needle raise the presser ft and stomp the power foot down, now check the bubble when the machine is running full tilt. when the machine is running slow you will not see the oil flow. also ck the screen on the oil uptake under machine for dirt.

Why is there no oil movement in bubble on top of machine?

use lilly white oil and oil flow will not show unless the machine has lots of rpms. tilt machine away from you and ck to see if the oil take up screen is clogged with thread debris. use should always oil hook with lits spray oil. u can take the two rubber knobs off the left side of machine and spray a little in each. oil will not drip out because u have a gasket at bottom.
