Which operating system ?

click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X

you will need to update/reinstall drivers

right click to reinstall drivers

if you can see your usb drive but its not working

ports (com&lpt) right click update driver

if you can now see your Kingston data traveller

click start click to open on my computer you should see your usb drive could be E: or something right click select properties there will be an array of options

select the sharing tab option then advanced sharing make sure you have a tick in the share this folder box

then click permissions make sure you have all 3 boxes ticked full control changes and read in windows 7

click start control panel administrative tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes

automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start

you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive

then you restore it to its default status

Right click on usb drive select properties you will have an array of options

Select the hardware option then select your drive properties policies

restore defaults

In XP

Right click on your drive select properties then on customize restore Default in W 7

you might have to alternate doing this repeatedly until the problem is resolved

click start control panel scroll to folder options view place a tick in show hidden files folders and drives
this may vary depending on your operating system

After downloading photos to my laptop the playback screen does not function on the camera. The screen is fine while shooting but does not function in playback. Any solutions?

The memory card may not be storing your photos.
do you transfer photo direct from camera or use card reader?
If card reader the memory chip might not be fully seated back in camera ( not likely ) or you might have formatted the card incorrectly after transfer.
if direct from camera did you properly remove camera from computer? Remember, just removing device without ejecting device sometimes results in errors. Any device connected via cord to computer is using a USB port and on your task bar you should see indicator , right click select eject device.
if that might be the case reconnect camera then properly eject.

CD Insert Without pushing a button!

This will not work with a Laptop drive unless it is the slot loading type.
We already have 'Eject' when we right click the CD/DVD drive from (My Computer), which ejects the drive tray. But to insert the tray inside,we have to manually push the insert button on CD/DVD drive.
Another way most PC owners insert that CD tray is by pushing the tray itself. I'm sure nobody mentioned this when you got that PC, but that push to insert feature (Also called the bump feed) is not really safe to use over time. If you happen to say, push too hard because you are in a hurry, the gear which pulls your CD tray in can skip a tooth, making that CD or DVD open and close all by itself, or even worse, making it stay locked tight forever.

5b3ffe0.jpg

Here is a trick that allows you to insert the drive tray without actually touching that button. Simply by putting the 'Insert' sub-context(as shown in above figure) menu on the CD/DVD drives Context menu. For this to happen, we need to use a dll file from our windowssystem32 folder.

First of all, download this file CDEject.zip and extract it. There will be two files CDeject.dll and CDeject.reg. Now follow the step by step procedures.

1. CDeject.dll -> copy this file to X:windowssystem32 folder (here X is your corresponding drive letter, usually it's drive C:)

2. CDeject.reg -> execute it. It shows a warning message, accept that and click OK.

Now try right clicking your CD or DVD drive and click eject, then right click again and choose insert.

Amazingly cool isn't it?

So far I haven't found a way to make the CD hop in the tray all by itself, but I am still hopeful.

And you thought you couldn't program!

Have fun with that!

CD can not be inserted into the CD drive of laptop.

did you try to eject it thru the software ? Go to your (My Computer) and open up to see the Drive. Right Click and Eject. If that don't work you can manually put a paperclip in and Pull out the drive. When all else fails remove the screw that is holding the drive in the laptop and pull it out to inspect it for damage

I have a presario cq56. I put a dvd disc and I cannot eject it out. It swallowed the disc. How do I fix this problem?

Look at the dvd drive compartment, you will see a small hole beside the eject button, take a broom stick or a needle (any thing that can enter through the hole) insert it and pull it out, the drive tray will eject upon bring out the object you inserted into the hole. feel free to contact me if you have any problem.

My cd rom will not open what can i do

  1. Software can lock the CD drive preventing you from ejecting. If this is the problem, turn off the machine, turn on, when the DELL screen flashes, push the eject button several times and the CD will eject.

  2. If that doesn't work, look for a small hole the size of a paper clip and gently push a paper clip into it. When you meet resistance, the drawer will start to open. You can then pull it open carefully. The computer can be off when you try this.

  3. If neither work, then you might have a jammed CD, i.e. incorrectly inserted. You can try to force the drawer open with your fingers but don't use so much force you strip the plastic gears.

I have a dell laptop and a DVD is stuck in the drive

You will see a tiny hole in front of your dvd drive, it is usually beside the light indicator, deep in a pin into it and the drive will open even without the laptop being on.

Try it, it might help

I wish you the best.

Disk eject Dellxps 16

If you look closely at the drawer where you put the disc in, there is a tiny hole. Use something which will fit, pin, paperclip etc and push firmly into the hole. This should force the drawer to open.

Hope this works for you
