Connecting PS3 to Philips 55PW9363

I'm having trouble connecting my PS3 to my AV-5 input for the Philips 55PW9363. I can only get a resolution of 480p when hooking it up to that DVI input, but the TV manual says that it should be able to display in 480p OR 1080i. Does anyone know anything about this monitor? I also have tried connecting the PS3 with component cables on the AV-4 input and I can't get a picture at all with this. Please help if you can

I have had the same problem since the PS3 came out with this model.  I thought it was just me.  I've messed around with the settings and tried different HDMI-DVI cables with no luck.

SOURCE: Strange convergence problem on my Philips projection TV

The only real test is to try to adjust the convergence for each color...Red and Blue...If you cant move both colors in all directions - up - down - left - right...then your Tv has a convergence problem. Try in both 480 and 1080...if it can't be adjusted - replace the parts. I just did mine the other day

How do i connect a playstation 3 to a philips tv

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a high-definition gaming console that supports both standard AV connections and high-resolution connections (such as HDMI). Most of the older Philips TVs come with a standard AV input. Newer, flat-panel Philips TVs include standard AV inputs and high-resolution inputs. To get the best video quality out of your PS3, using an HDMI connection is recommended if the option is available. The PS3 does not include an HDMI cable, only a standard AV cable

Standard AV
  • 1 Turn off the PS3.
  • 2 Connect the flat end of the PS3 AV cable into the "AV Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3.
  • 3 Connect the "red," "white" and "yellow" prongs on the opposite end of the PS3 AV cable into the corresponding "red," "white" and "yellow" AV inputs on the TV (usually located on the side or in the back).
  • 4 Press the "Source" button on the Philips TV remote.
  • 5 Select the "AV" video display mode.
  • 6 Turn on the PS3. The PS3 logo will appear on the screen.
  • HDMI Connection

Trouble connecting Ps3 to Viewsonic N3240W Via HDMI cable or RCA / AV ?? No picture... How to get it to work ?? NEED HELP ASAP !!!!!!!!!!

    Just had this problem myself.

Has been solved by connecting PS3 to a working monitor.

Go into video output settings on your PS3 and selecting a video output that is no more than the maximum resolution of the new monitor you wish to use.

    Eg. 576p or 720p

Wii console to Philips HDTV Connection not working

In order to use the 480p (HDTV/EDTV) resolution, you MUST be using the Wii Component Video Cable. Any other cable will not display the 480p resolution, you have use the 480i (Standard) instead. You can order the Wii Component Video Cable through Nintendo's Web site. Using that cable, you can select the 480p resolution. Hope this helps.

    Display to big with PS3

All CRT RPTVs have overscan, and some sources bring this out more than others.

It can always be cured to at least be able to see the needed parts of the pic, but hoses your picture beyond belief, and correcting that takes time, experience, patience and expertise.

I do overscan reduction on all CRT RPTVs as part of what my calibrations offer, but charge extra to do so.

unless there is a switch on the ps3 itself to change to normal tv, you may have to reconnect the ps3 via HDMI and change the screen resolution back to 480p or change the settings in the setup from hdmi to av.
