All functions seem to work including incoming calls except when you dial out.It's like you hear the digits being dialed , then short pause and then it goes to busy signal. help!

The dial may be defective and when you dial it is putting out erronous tones. When the Phone Company heres digits that do not correspond to a legal phone number it will give you a error tone or busy tone. It could be the phone got put on pulse and the line won't recognize the pulses

If you have tried the phone base unit in the same jack that works correctly with your answering machine and you still cannot break dial tone, then you have a defective base unit. Jer
