If the water level is adequate, check the position of the gasket on the bottom of the water tank assembly. The gasket can become lodged, damaged, or removed. If this has happened, fix the gasket to the proper position according to the user manual, or replace the damaged or missing gasket.

My cordless Dyson V6 animal vacuum filter smells badly, like dog breathe, how do i rid the smell?

I had a similar problem with a smelly filter, even after multiple washings and finally discovered an actual solution, which I can’t believe Dyson won’t tell you. Those filters that slide out of the top can be disassembled by removing the outer fabric from the plastic frame. When I did that, I found a massive clump of debris inside that would never have come out just by rinsing it under a faucet. Perhaps they don’t want you to know this, but it’s a two minute fix and actually addresses the source of the odor, rather than just covering it up.

I have a DC 44 animal I have taken the filter out and cleaned and dryer it and when I put it back in my machine just keeps surging

    Hi there,

You absolutely right to wash the filter and this is recommended approximately once a month on a smaller machine such a cordless.

The surging or pulsating noise is caused by a restriction in airflow which is usually an indication of a blockage. If this is happening since the filter was washed then the immediate thought would be whether or not it was dried sufficiently before being replaced and whether or not detergents were used. Detergents of any kind are a 'no' when washing our filters, which need to be done in cold water only.

Overall though, if the machine is pulsating we would recommend having a look at the following video (please note the model in the video is different but the principal remains the same).

I hope this helps but If you continue to have difficulty, please give the Dyson Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA), 0800 298 0298 (UK). Our experts will be happy to talk you through some further diagnostic checks when you have your machine easily to hand.

Where to find WA80V3 control panel

Even if you do replace the panel you still need to get rid of the cockroaches because it will keep on happening. Since the panel may be hard to find I see no other alternative then to replace it with what they suggest. I see no other option except for getting rid of your washing machine and buying a new one, so for the $60 they want to fix it seems well worth it.

    Good luck,

My dyson has just stopped. I have changed the fuse and still can not get it to work.

Hi Emma, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you've had difficulty with your machine. Like most Dyson vacuums, DC25 is engineered to shut itself down for protection if it starts to overheat, and it sounds like this may have happened to your machine. This will usually be due to a blockage, or because the filters are overdue for a wash. The machine should automatically reset after it's cooled down, which could take 2-3 hours.

In normal use, we recommend washing both filters at least once every three months, as shown in the video attached. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filters to dry completely somewhere warm before replacing them.

It's also worth checking your machine for any blockages by following the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc25/dc25-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

If you would like some further advice after you've given this a try, please call the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US) or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

I have a Dyson DC33. The cleaning head will not stay down. As you move the unit, the head will stay at whatever angle it is last pushes into. So, as you pull the vacuum back and then push it forward,...

Hi Anthony, it's Jack at Dyson.

This sounds very unusual, as the cleaner head should pivot freely in use, allowing the soleplate to remain flat to the floor surface. The cleaner head is designed to adjust automatically to different carpet heights and floor types as you vacuum - this is shown in the video I've attached above.

It would be worth washing both filters as shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc33/dc33-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/filter-removal-step-1

We recommend using cold water without any detergent, and allowing both filters at least 24 hours to dry completely before replacing them in the machine. In normal use, the filters should be maintained in this way at least once every 3 months.

It's also worth checking to make sure the internal hose isn't damaged, and that there are no obstructions in the machine. Our online Support guide should help with this: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc33/dc33-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/next/next/next/wand-suction

If you need further help after you've given this a try, I would encourage you to contact us directly so we can provide further assistance - if a repair is needed our experts will be happy to confirm if this is covered under your machine's 5-year guarantee.

You can reach us by calling the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

We'll look forward to hearing from you.

Put wet filter in dyson DC35 will not run will it dry out

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The filters in our handheld machines should be washed at least once a month using cold water without detergent. However, they should always be allowed to try completely before they're replaced, which may take at least 12 hours. It can help to place the filter somewhere warm - for example, by a radiator, or in an airing cupboard.

Unfortunately, if you have used your machine with a wet filter in place, this is likely to have caused damage to the motor. Using your machine with a wet filter will also have voided the machine's 2-year guarantee.

I would encourage you to get in touch with us directly so we can confirm which replacement parts you may need to get the machine running again. You can reach our customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

How often do I wash filter for dyson dc33 upright vacuum cleaner

Dyson animal is giving me fits

    Hi,

Try this quick repair and see if this fixes your Dyson in terms of not going in the upright position: This is a frequent problem that we see come in on Dysons. If this doesn't fix it, please feel free to just use the clarification request and let me know this didn't fix it. The suction problem is happening because when the machine is put in the upright position it diverts the suction from the floor to the hose automatically, and it's probably stuck in between the lower part and the hose part.

    Step 1.
Turn power off and unplug the machine.
Tilt the machine backward to a 45° angle.

    Step 2.
  • Hold the section under the airway inspection pipe.
  • The black forward lock button must be held down simultaneously, otherwise the valve carriage will not move.
  • Pivot this section upwards until it clicks into place.
  • Release the black button once the valve pipe carriage is moved up into place.

    Step 3.

    • Tilt the machine forward.
    • The cleaner head should now slide underneath the part you have just clicked into place.
    • The machine should now stand upright.

In terms of the machine not picking up, this could be caused by a few things.

The first thing you should check is the filter. The DC14 has a motor filter that is recommended to be washed every 90 days. Here's how to access this filter:

    • To remove the washable filter: Remove the clear bin; and cyclone top from your machine by pressing the cyclone release button.
    dc14_cyclone_removal_01.gif
    • Lift clip to remove the filter from the machine.*
    dc14_filter_removal_01.gif dc14_filter_removal_02.gif
*The post-motor filter located under the clear bin should last the lifetime of the machine and does not need to be washed.

There are two different types of filters that were used on the Dyson DC14, and One part filter, and a two part filter. Here's instructions on how to clean both of them:

    ONE PART FILTER:
    • Wash the filter in cold water only. (Please do not use detergent, do not wash in a dishwasher or washing machine).
    • Repeat the steps shown below until the water runs clear.

    • Repeat the steps shown below until the water runs clear.

    • Leave to dry in a warm place for 24 hours. DO NOT dry the filter inside a clothing dryer, hair dryer, microwave the filter, place the filter in an oven, or near a naked flame.
    • Please ensure the filter and filter case are completely dry before refitting into the machine.
    1_part_filter_drying.jpg TWO PART FILTER:
    filter_2.jpg
    • Wash the filter in cold water only. Please DO NOT use detergent on the filter, or wash the filter in a dishwasher or in a washing machine.
    • Repeat the steps shown below until the water runs clear.
    • Leave the filter to dry in a warm place for 12 hours, until completely dry.
    • DO NOT dry the filter inside a clothing dryer, hair dryer, microwave the filter, place the filter in an oven, or near a naked flame.
    dc14_filter_01.gif dc14_filter_05.gif dc14_filter_06.gif
The filter should be washed at least once every 6 months.

Also, since you have removed the bottom plate, a common problem on the Dyson's is when this plate is reinstalled. It is very easy to put the plate on incorrectly, which prevents the brushes from hitting the carpeting. This can seriously decrease the pick up on carpets. Check the bottom plate to make sure that it was put back on properly. Here's pictures of both the correct, and incorrect way to reinstall the bottom plate:

Here's a picture of the WRONG way to install the bottom plate. Notice the gap in between the two housings:

    9739790.jpg
Here's another picture, that is the RIGHT way to install the soleplate:

    8b953d0.jpg
I would say probably 6 times out of 10 this is the problem with the customers machine. If you checked the soleplate and it is installed correctly, move on to the second possible problem.

I hope that this was helpful to you. Please feel free to use the Clarification Request form here on Fixya if you have any questions.

    Thank you,
