How do I unlock my cursor on my laptop when the yellow light on the mouse pad is not on?

Do you have a micro USB device plugged in. Some touch pads automatically disable if you plug in any type of USB mouse device. You can also go into the device manager and uninstall the pad (do not use the delete/remove drivers option), then reboot. Windows will reinstall the device, and sometimes that fixes issues. Or do like it do and use a wireless mouse. I hate those touch pads anyway. ;-)

1. Go to control panel
2. open mouse options

4. Make sure your touch pad is highlighted and click the settings button
5. one of the options is tapping, and you can enable it here

That should get your mouse to click on touch pad taps.

My hp 4520s probook's mouse pad got locked accidentally, and it's not unlocking by double tapping on the light button on the mouse pad. please help me with this asap.

First, try double tapping the light again. You may have just mis-tapped.

Next try restarting the laptop. Certain laptops re-enable the track pad on restart so long as a USB mouse isn't connected.

If that fails, navigate to the Mouse Settings on your PC and re-enable it there. If you have a USB mouse you can use that. If not, you can use the keyboard. Windows Key will launch the Start Menu, arrow keys can highlight options, Enter will click on them, Control+Tab and Control+Shift+Tab will switch tabs (in a window that has tabs).

In Windows XP and 7 (and probably Vista), Mouse Settings is located at Control Panel > Mouse > Settings.

My mouse pad in my computer wont work when i tap it

It will depend on what touch pad (and related software) is installed on the particular computer, but you will find the tap option under the Control Panel. Open your control panel, select "Mouse" There will be a TAB in the mouse properties called "touchpad" (surprise, surprise!) where you can toggle tapping on/off.

Hope this helps. PS: if you DONT see the touchpad option - you will first need to install the drivers/software for your touchpad. Most HP touchpads are the Synaptics Touch Pads - Find the drivers here: --> Click here!

My mousepad doesn't work anymore

Hello,

it could be unlocked provided the fault is not from the mouse pad.

Go to control panel, double click on the mouse icon. Once it is opened, go to device settings and enable the mouse pad from there.

But if that's not where the fault is from, then I think the mouse pad is faulty and needs to be replaced.

I wish you all the best.

Dell inspiron I6400 touch pad is not working

Unless there is not a hardware switch and the only manufacturer that I know of that did that was Compaq/HP about 5 or so years ago. Typically there are no drivers to be installed for a mouse (touch pad) as a generic set is in the driver library of the operating system. 9 times out of 10 it is a hardware failure. With that being said, if it has warranty send it in, if it does not, (although it may just be a loose connection or the touch pad itself) most repair shops are going to run anywhere from 150 - 300 dollars just to crack it open. Best option is to get a small USB mouse, unless you just really want the touch pad.
