Samsung LN32A330 32 in. LCD TV Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 21, 2012

Samsung 32 Without any warning, when I turned on the tv today, the screen was completely black. Comcast came and checked out the cable and said that it's the tv, not cable that is causing the problem. The picture does not come on at all, but there is sound.

Hello Alice,

That is an indication of a failure in the back light inverter power supply. That model Samsung is covered under a class action lawsuit settlement. Samsung has agreed to repair all TVs with bad power supply board free of charge for parts and labor even if the unit is out of standard warranty. You will need to contact Samsung to arrange the warranty service on the unit. You can get full details and Samsung contact information here:

I hope this helps,

SOURCE: Have sound but no picture on Samsung plasma

It's a pretty common problem. The no picture but sound problem is usually the y sustain board. I've replaced 2 on mine now. The 680uf 35V capacitors usually are bulging because one of the power transistors went and took them out. This has happened to both of the y boards I had. One time the failing y board took out the buffer boards too, and once it did not. The fix is super simple and anyone with even the most rudimentary knowledge of computers or electronics can do the labor yourself. You should do the simple stuff first by just doing a quick test with a multimeter. Just check the power coming to the y board. After that you can just remove the y board by removing 3 cables and like 3 screws. Plug in the new board and it's done! You can source the parts from a place like shopjimmy or discount merchant. 3 boards were like 200 bucks. 1 board is like 100 bucks. Labor took me 15min. Think about that the next time an electronics repair place charges you 1000 dollars. Of course they check everything (Yeah right) and warranty their work (I don't) but if you check the service manual it states that this is the most common repair. Look for the Canadian manual online. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Samsung 40 no picture

I bought a 40" LNT4061F Samsung Flat Screen 02/15/08 and 10 days later the picture went out on me. I was just watching TV when all the sudden the TV turned off on its own. I turned it back on and got a blank white screen. I couldn't even get the menu to appear. The sound was there, but no picture. I called Samsung for help and they said that they would have to send out a service tech. This all happened Sunday, the 24th of February. They said that I would hear from a service tech in 24 to 48 hours. Well 24 hours is up, I hope I hear from them tommorrow. I'll give an update when something happens so that others may know what to expect.

SOURCE: No Picture - Samsung LN-S4692D 46in HDTV LCD

I had the same problem and I replaced the t-con board. My t.v. is fixed!!!! I just couldn't see spending another 700.00 dollars for a repair shop to fix it. The t-con board is located at the top of the t.v. once you remove the back cover. Be very careful removing the two plugs at the top of the board which was easy once I figured out how the clips worked. there is a black lever like connection which flips up, then grip with your fingers the tab and slide the tape like wires straight out. The bottom plug is very simple. Also to expose the t-con board you will have to remove a heat shield cover. Once removed there is foil looking tape that needs to be peeled back to expose the board. The board is very sensitive to static electricity so if you have a grounding strap that you can strap to your wrist and ground to the frame while performing your repair. Its best to lay the t.v. face down on the kitchen table with a blanket to protect the screen. Good luck!

SOURCE: Samsung LCD tv - Turns on and off by itself.

Not sure if this is the same problem, but I just moved and set up my Samsung 40" LCD and it has been going off and on by itself with the worst yesterday every 2-3 minutes. After speaking with a friend of mine who is not in the Tv business but just has good common sense, I determined it was likely a bad power strip. The bottom line is I replaced the crappy power strip (which was fully loaded with all 6 outlets in use) with the higher quality one I had in the other room. The problem is gone. I suspect the power strip was failing or real bad quality........try plugging the tv directly into the wall outlet first. hope this helped.

What is remote code for Comcast cable universal remote?

If it is the original remote control to Comcast Cable box; there is no need set it up with a code. It might have been already set. Check the remote control for its infra-red emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check by pressing all the buttons on it; and see whether all of it generates infrared signal while pressing. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It has details about how to check a remote control; by one among the post. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ If the remote control is found OK; check and replace the infra-red sensor inside the TV. Contact any service technician.
