The copies have black streaks in a portion of the copy. When I lighten the copies the streaks are there, much lighter, while the rest of the copy is blank. I've checked the cartridge the portion of the drum I can see looks clean. The inside of the copier has toner dust all in it. I'd say it has never been cleaned or serviced since the owner bought it used 5 years ago.

Usually black streaks are caused by faulty rollers in the fuser assy. Depending on how many prints/copies you have on your current one it may be time to change it.

Hello, First, the streaks appears when copy from glass or adf, when printing or all?
Solution #1: How many copies did you do from last drum changing? if over 80 000 copies, replace the drum unit. -in case that streaks appears when copy and print
Solution #2: If the streaks appears only if you copy from adf or glass, clean the glass and dry it out. Both glasses, narrow on left side beneath the adf/cover and glass for copy of original.
Solution #3: If the streaks are wide and solid, with possible toner left overs, you need to replace fixing film.
just make sure you cleaned all mirrors, **** glass, and glass of discharge lamps. if you sure that when you copy a lighter image and the black line is also ligthens, those parts i mentioned are the only parts that concerned with.
