Bottle under Grohe soap dispenser leaks down to cabinet

The bottle just revolves around when I try to tighten; any suggestions?

  • Junk0457 May 17, 2009

Not only does the soap leak out of the bottle all over the cabinet, it leaks around the top of the dispenser. Altogether a pain in the rear. My dispenser is black, fyi.

The Grohe soap dispenser leaks soap every time I fill it from the top. It is because the bottle just hangs on 3 prongs and the bottle is not fastened to the unit so when you fill it, any soap that goes above the loose hanging bottle drips off the side and down into your cabinet. There is only one nut that is supplied to fasten the head to the counter. There is no other mechanism to fasten the bottle other than the 3 prongs. I discovered this by chance when I saw a puddle of soap in the back of the cabinet after one year of use. It is possible to have another nut that pushes the top of the bottle down while it is hanging on the prongs to create a dubious seal. There seems to be a part missing because the bottle has threads on it that are completely unincorporated into the assembly.

Pull the dispenser out the top and have someone hold the trim above the counter while you tighen the bottle down below.

But the real problem is the retaiher nut which hold the dispenser in place is loose. Remove the bottle underneath ( it unthreads) and tighten the nut that you see just above the bottle. This can be a tight spot and you may need a basin wrench.

Grohe soap dispenser 28.857 leaks

Take it apart and clean it. If that doesn't work consider replacing it.

I have a Grohe liquid soap dispenser and the washer is leaking soap at the base of the unit. can this washer be replaced?

it is not available from Grohe but if you take it apart it is probably generic enough to be found at your local hardware store. assuming this the problem. it may just need to be tightened up a little. either way here is a link, w/an adobe file (specification sheet), regarding the specs about 1/3 down the page on the left. you can also purchase the soap dispenser here. hope this helps:)

My Grohe soap dispenser leaks under the sink. The bottle simply hangs off the pump. It looks like it should screw on the dispenser but there was no nut. Is this correct?

Virtually all soap/lotion bottles have threads on the top of the bottle and are designed for initial installation only since all if them are refillable by pulling up on the pump head. Grab the bottle and twist to the right. If it will not tighten then the threads are stripped out and complet dispenser replacement is required. Grohe does not sell either the pump assembly nor the bottle separately.

I have a Grohe soap dispenser and it has quit working for me. It is as if it gets stuck after you push it down and it seems to leak the soap out of the bottom part of the dispenser getting soap all over...

Sounds like there might simply be old soap caked on the inside of the dispenser head and feed tube. Best thing to do is have a sink filled with HOT water and just put the head portion in there to soak for a while. This should loosen the old soap enough to either dissolve or at least get it moving again. You can also take what soap is still in the dispenser out and put in another container, taking time to rinse the container with hot water as well and then filling it with hot water as well to test the pump action of the head, again using this action to help clean the insides of the pump. Short of this doing the trick, it may just be time for a new one. Good luck.

Dispenser will not press down

Unfortunelately for you, Grohe, does not offer pump head replacement to the best of my knowledge. The entire pump/bottle therefore will have to be purchased. You didn't mention what finish you had so if you plan to stay where you are for a long time I would suggest you look at the Rohl soap dispensers as an alternative. Their warranty is for 10 years and you can run a 3/8" I.D. vinyl tubing from the pump down to any size jug of soap you want under the sink and never have to refill it again from above. The finish might not be a match however.

My grohe soap dispenser won't pump out any soap.

If the soap dispenser is not pumping the soap then the soap is to thick. You need to then the soap down some so it will pump.

Soap dispenser leaks

You can fill these 2 ways. You can pull out pump from top,at sink , and squeeze soap in .Or you can unscrew bottle from under sink and fill, I'm thinking that your bottle is loose under sink, or the plastic neck has a hairline crack. Im not real clear on where the soap is comming from.Thankyou.
