When you slide the switch on my Canon SD400 to the picture mode, it sometimes shows that it is in movie mode instead

Sometimes have to flip the switch back to view pics mode, then past movie mode and to pic mode. Sometimes have to wiggle switch back and forth to get it to stay in pic mode?

The switch might be faulty or just that you switch it very fast by passing the modes from pic to video.

SOURCE: canon sd450 - spilled a little lemonade on the camera

maybe the lemonade was sticky and the shutter can't open? otherwise the circuitry could have been fried if you turned it on before it dried inside.

SOURCE: Display screen no longer works while taking pictures

Sounds like they accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of the camera. This manually turns the screen on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time with the camera turned on.

Cannot get the setting to change from "movie" to individual picture. I can't change the setting to take an individual picture and the manual does not cover this problem. Help!

On my Ixus 70, there is a slide switch on the back of the camera at the upper right side that selects still, movie, or review pictures, with icons of a camera, a movie camera , and an arrow in a box. If your camera has the same layout, then slid this switch to the top position and you will be in still photo mode.

How do I unlock card on my canon sd400 camera

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Canon powershot sd400. power up, camera functions work, but in picture taking mode, my screen (view finder is black). also in videw mode. viewing previous pictures is ok. battery is fully charged.

There is usually a button for turning the screen on and off, or only on for previewing (browsing images). (and sometimes there is an option for having the screen on without the On-Screen Display)

I don't know exactly which one on your camera... sometimes the up button, sometimes there is a little symbol.

Play with it, and eventually you'll find the right button. =-]

Canon SD400: horizontal lines and daylight images are overexposed (see photo)

In both the situations the problem is with the apperture control mechanism of the camera. 1). sometimes the flexible ribbion cable carrying signal to the lense assembly get worn out, replacing the same will resolve the problem. 2) in some cases the leaf blades of the apperture gets sticky, cleaning of the same solves the problem. 3). If you happen to drop the camera then the alignment of the motor moving the blades get disturbed.

In all the cases only a good repair man can fix the problem .

CARD LOCKED?

Look on the memory card itself. Many times there is a little "window" where there is a slide switch (the same as the old floppy disks were). Try moving the switch.
