Connecting PS2 to Bose Lifestyle 18

Without the specific LifeStyle model # it's not easy to say for sure, but it sounds like you might have a composite cable plugged into a component video output of the Bose. Assuming it does not have HDMI output, it might have white/red/yellow (RCA-type jacks, aka "phono") and that yellow jack is a composite video output. It would plug into the same color jack on the TV. There are also RGB (Red/Green/Blue) component outputs on many devices and similar inputs on the TV, so you have to match like color out to same color in and make sure the TV is set to composite video input, not HDMI nor component.

Also could just be a bad cable. It's always the cheap things that we overlook, so with the same output/input setup, assuming you match type, try a different cable. The actual color of the end on the cable does not matter, but don't plug a yellow-colored output jack to a red, white, blue or green input jack on the TV - that won't work.

You need to buy a Bose VS 2, video enhancer. Your cable/sattelite, vcr and aux connect to the VS 2 and the VS2 connects one HDMI cable to the TV. The VS2 then upconverts DVDs played on the lifestyle through the VS2/HDMI.

If you use both s-video and composite (yellow) video at the same time on the bose system, it thinks you want to use the component adapter (which is included with the system). Just use one or the other. But if this is still in black and white (it may because the system still thinks you're using the adapter) just press "system" on the bose remote, and go to "video" and then "video connector" If video connector says "Component", try to change this to "composite + s". If this doesn't let you change it (it may not) then restart the system by unplugging the DC power cable for 30 seconds and re-connect it. I hope this helps.

1-connect the blu-ray to your tv via hdmi cable and this will run picture.

2-connect the blu-ray via digital optical cable to the optical input on the bose system. then using your bose menu, (system menu)set your auxillary sound output to digital optical.

when watching dvd thru bluray player select aux on the bose and you're away.

SOrry for your plight, the Bose staff are correct, they do release occassional firmware updates via a DVD or a CD throught their costumers mailer. If you are not part of this mailer, you may go to any Bose service center and request the latest update disc for your Lifestyle 18-II system. Udpates should be able to help you sort out your problem.

Your Bose system doesn't lead sound trough hdmi.
You must connect the optical cable with your lifestyle.
Change the sound connectionsettings in the menu of your ps3.

You also need to assgn the optical connection in the setup menu of the lifesyle. e.g. optical=aux.

CHECK THE SOUND SYSTEM ARE YOU SELECTED FROM AUDIO SETUP CONFIGARATION.
CHECK THE MUTING STATUS.

We had the same issue. The svideo cable was no longer connected. It had become unconnected when we were connecting a game system.

Try the settings setup and adjust the brightness, video format, or video black level. If you're using component connections then adjust the video output. You can scroll system setup through the remote control settings button.
