Two things here.

1) This is a CRT based set so there is no "lamp" involved.
2) The standby light should be blinking a repeated count of blinks with a 2 second pause between counts. Please report the exact count here. This will indicate the circiut in which a problem was detected.

With the above information, we can provide you with a more detailed description of the problem as well as the likely solutions and cost.

You need to call a Sony service center for this problem. It will cost you less in the long run.

Let me know when TV warms up does it go to standby?
If yes, standby light would be blinking, let me know how many times it blinks?
And if TV does not go to standby mode, does picture remain with red tone?

There would be bit long pause between blinks so count the blinks and let me know to help you.

Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206

This is a problem with the G Board. Sony no longer sales the part, and good luck trying to find it on the web. Sony will refurbish the board for you.
