Whirlpool oven that does not broil

Electric range works fine in all functions except broiling. Broil element burned out recently, replaced it. COntrol panel made a humming noise when broiling, so I replaced it. Replaced control board, bake element heats up but not the top broil element. Cables and connections are fine, not burned, not damaged. What could it be? Thanks

Wow Catriver, so that is what that little thingy is, a fuse!! I had read in other forums about a fuse, but I didnt see what looked like a normal fuse anywhere on the back of the range, so I assumed that didnt apply to me.
Continutity test to both cables as you mentioned yielded no beep or reading on my meter. Touching both sides of that fuse also yielded no beep. Therefore, it appears that you are correct, and that fuse is the culprit.

Does it make sense that the oven DOES bake, and it just doesnt broil? Wouldn't this faulty fuse knockout both bake AND broil? The tech sheet mentions that the fuse opens at 363 F.

So, do i go ahead and get another one of these?
Thanks again for the quick response. We are dying to bake something!!!

Come to find out the bake element was blown,. I ordered a new one and put it in. Odly enough I have 120 on both side of the element and 120 on both sides of the broil element but it doesnt heat up. When I turn my oven on bake, the only element that comes on is the top (Broil) element. When this first happened the oven door locked also.

Nabril, looks like you have a thermal fuse in the broil circuit. Take your meter and on the control board go to connector P2-2, should be a blue wire. Pull the connector off and see if you have continuity from the blue wire to the red wire on the terminal block (where the cord connects) power off, wires off. If you don't have continuity, it's probably that fuse. If you do, the only other thing I would think it could be would be the relay itself. The schematic does not show the placement of this fuse. It could be on the back panel or under the main top. Check out the pic. Part number..3196548 Catriver..post back.

Broiler will not work on a whirlpool range rf367lxsyo

the broil element
is the heating element that is found at the top of the oven and produces a very high heat for broiling. If the broil element isn't working, you should first do a visual inspection for signs that the element has blistered or separated. If the element appears normal then you can check for continuity with a multi-meter. Remove power from the appliance before performing this test. Remove the back panel and locate the terminals for the broil element and inspect the terminals and wires for signs of overheating or damage.

If there is no continuity then the element will need to be replaced. If the wires are damaged then they will need to be repaired. If the element is ok then you will need to check the broil circuit to determine the cause. This involves live voltage checks and should only be performed by qualified persons. Components to check include fuses, if the range is equipped, and oven control thermostat or electronic control.

Will the oven work without the broiler attached

You could use the oven without the broiler. It is customary that the oven will use the broil element to even out the heat in the oven for better baking but you could use if. it just may not bake evenly. There could be two things that is causing the broil element to stay energized. the control is not shutting down or there is a short to ground in the broil element. Have the broil element tested, it could just need replacing. If it is in the control that is a bigger problem.

Components to check include fuses, if the range is equipped, and oven control thermostat or electronic control. Depending on the manufacturer of the element, you will normally read between 19 ohms and 115 ohms

Most modern ovens use an electronic control board
to control the oven functions. These models will use the control board to operate the oven safety valve on a gas range or oven, and the bake and broil elements on an electric range or oven. If there is no power to the igniter circuit, or the element circuits, then you should check the control board to verify that there is power at the appropriate output relay. These are live voltage checks and should be performed by qualified persons only. If there is no output voltage then the control should be replaced.

Broiler quit

Have you checked the broil element resistance? Unplug the range and remove the back cover. Remove the wires from the broiler element and place a meter across the element posts. See if the element reads close to a short (It should read very low resistance if good). If the element reads infinite (open), you will have to replace the broil element. If the readings are normal, you may have a bad Electronic Range Control (ERC) board. The board controls the bake and broil features of the oven through two separate circuits. Usually a relay on the board goes bad. Since the ERC is considered "non-serviceable", replacement components can be hard to find. For this reason, the entire assembly is usually replaced. The ERC runs around $100 for your range, while the broil element can run anywhere from $35 to $60. Now...as far as your self-cleaning function is concerned - most electric ranges use BOTH elements to super heat the oven cavity to about 700 - 800 degrees F. With one of the elements not working, there's a good possibility the self-cleaning function will not work either Double check the items I mentioned and let me know if this helps you.

Electric Kitchen aid, model kerc607...broil elements

What is the complete model # from the sticker on the range? I will need that so I can look into this for you. I will say that I have seen, in several cases, where the oven control gets a surge and fries after an element has broken.
