My Netbook Acer Aspire One will not hook up to the LCD projector.

Connecting an External Monitor or Data Projector
You can switch to anexternal monitor or data projector by two methods.1. Connect the externalmonitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and thelaptop. The video information will automatically switch to the externalmonitor.2. If you power up thelaptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor bypressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make andmodel laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCDscreen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fnkey plus one of the function key. Here is a list of keycombinations for some of the laptops :-IBM ThinkPad = Fn + F7HP and Compaq = Fn + F4Toshiba = Fn + F5Dell = Fn + F8

My computer has reand black lines all over

To determine if the video card or the LCD screen is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop, power up the external monitor first the boot up your laptop. The video data will automatically divert to the external monitor. If the image on the external monitor is normal the the fault is in the LCD screen.
Either way, I suggest you return your laptop to the supplier because it should be still under warranty. If you try to fix it yourself you could void your warranty.

On an Acer Aspire 1640z I get blue screen and lines. lines move with track pad movement. nothing readable. replaced lcd cable and inverter. thinking either lcd or motherboard

Hook it up to an external monitor. If the display is fine on the external then your gpu on the motherboard is fine and the LCD is bad. No external display means bad board. Both cost roughly the same but an LCD is much easier to replace than the board.

Have acer aspire netbook. what cable do I need to hook up to LCD?

Do you want to connect an external LCD screen to your Acer laptop?
The Acer will have a blue 15pin Dsub female video connector. The standard 15pin monitor video cable will connect to the Acer's video port.

Acer p203w

Hook up a working external monitor and see what the video looks like. If the video looks right on the external monitor, then that means there is a problem with the LCD.

If you hook an external monitor and you still have half of the screen cutoff then its a problem with the motherboard.

My guess is there maybe a crack in your LCD screen and thats why you have the circle in there.

ACER cracked screen..external monitor???

Hi there.
The keyboard toggle you are using is the correct one.
Sometimes you have to hit Fn + F5 a couple of times to stay on there is no real set time. Make sure Fn + F6 is on so the laptop screen stays on.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
