Our downdraft fan switch broke (stuck on) on our electric jenn air cooktop jed8430adb so I took it apart, while it was running, to disconnect the switch and accidently touched conduit from the switch to metal on the side resulting in sparks and the whole cooktop (heat lights and all) instantly turning off. I think I blew a fuse on the unit itself (I think a fuse?) so now the whole stovetop is not working. Is there a fuse and replacement switch for that unit and if so - is there a refererance guide (map) to show where to access it?
The unit doesnt have any internal fuses. you have a house fuse blown or circuit breaker that tripped. the fan switch can be found online or from your local parts house and make sure you get the clips to hold it to the mounting tabs.
next time you get ready to work on it, just make sure and turn off the power first as you will touch the metal terminals to the frame again.

Had similar problem. Turned on back burner and has no response. Then tried other burners and no response. Went to check breaker, and when I flipped breaker, there was a spark and pop at the stove top. Tried again,and the same.
Appliance guy says that need to replace 4 switches...$300. any suggestions?
