Thanks for posting your question on fixya! ;)
First, unplug the device from the computer. Next, uninstall the software from the computer you are using it with, and download fresh software from HP Support, HERE.

Next:

1. Press the Power button ( ) to turn on the product.
2. With the product turned on , disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
   
3. Press and hold the power button with it unplugged for a full 15 seconds to completely drain the power.
   
4. Release the power button and plug the power cord back into the rear of the product.
   
5. If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
   
   (A)If the unit comes on and the scanner light remains off, try to re-install it by running the software you downloaded, and plug in the printer ONLY when told to do so, by the software.
   
   (B) If after trying this a couple of times, the unit does not behave as expected, it may be that it has gone bad and needs replacement.
   

Blocked print head nozzles
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent blocked print head nozzles. You may have blocked print head nozzles.
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the print then a new print head is required.

maybe the printer is out of ink you need to replace it, so you can scan the document it will not scan without changing those ink, thanks

Change your cartriage i thing your cartriage is short change cartriage on by one then you can find which cartriage is short replace it

my printer always shows disconnected if if have connected it.but all the lights of printer is blinking

Here's the link to your printer's driver.. Hp deskjet F4488 printer Driver. Open the link, select Operating System (O.S) and then click "Next". Follow the onscreen instruction to download the drivers.
If you have problem, let me know with the name of the Operating System installed on your system.

in when you click on the print botton a dialogue box opens which shows the print properties. in that you have to select the grey scale then only it prints in black and white
