I just got an 8 gb sandisk card for my z612 kodak camera. So i stuck it in and it said it needed to be formated, so I said sure. Then it said "formatting..." then told me again it needed to be formated? I'm kinda disapointed, I really need a card!! Is there any way I can make this one work? Or do I need to go get a new one?

I had the same problem when I bought a 4GB card to replace the original 2GB. When I took it back to BestBuy where I bought the camera, I was told that this camera could only use a 2GB card. So, I bought a 2GB card, installed it, and everything was fine.

Just bought a Kodak 4gb memory card, and camera says it needs to be formated, and I stick the card in and it says it can't be formatted

The Z612 uses MMC and SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible. You need to use cards 2GB and smaller.

I have not been able to format a scandisk memory card into my Easyshare kodak camera z612

The problem is that your camera is only compatible with SD cards, not SDHC cards. You bought a larger card for your older camera, not noticing that it was SDHC (or not knowing that it mattered). The new card can't be formatted, not because it or the camera is broken, but because it's not compatible.

Cards up to 2Gb are generally SD.
Cards of 4Gb are generally SDHC.
Cards over 8Gb have to be SDHC.

(There are exceptions. Sometimes, manufacturers make 4Gb SDHC cards but some have errors; they disable half of the chip and sell it as 2Gb, but it's still SDHC. 4Gb cards are almost always SDHC because they're cheaper, but 4Gb SD cards do exist. They are so rare that I've even seen a guru on this site claim they don't. I did own one once, but it was very expensive and turned out to be so unreliable that I had to return it. I don't recommend looking for one, because of the problems.)

Your solution is to go find a 2Gb card, and be extra sure that it doesn't say "SDHC" on it.

When i install team micro sdhc 4gb memory card in kodak easyshare z612 it says format .i select format but it keeps asking to format or cancell

First check make sure the SDHC card is unlocked I'll provide a diagram for that also I just checked your camera's memory capacity and it's only good for a 1 gig SD card which if using an SDHC memory card might go to 1.5 stretch to 2gig maybe but not a 4gig. My first impression is you got to much memory card for the camera. You might be able to go to the Kodak site and download updated firmware to allow the camera to function with the larger card but that's a maybe as well.
Here are the diagrams

I think the C330 is not compatible with the SDHC cards.
The spec for the SD card format is going to 2GB but the Kodak C330 not compatible with 2 GB SD memory cards.

But try an firmware upgrade.
Why download firmware version 1.07?
This firmware version improves memory card compatibility and provides general performance updates.

Memory Card required formatting

Hello

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.
