Hello,

My son has a digital camera with a SD card. When he inserts the card into the Wii it says it's corrupt and to reformat. This is a new SD card and we have reformatted it, but we continue to get the same error. Any ideas?

Thanks !!!!

Help me import from nikon cool pix s210 to Wlndows Live Photo Gallery 2011....laptop not recognizing camera

The best way to transfer pictures from a camera with an SD memory card is to do it outside the camera. If your computer does not have an SD card reader built in, you can buy an external USB card reader for $20 or less on E-bay, Amazon, etc. Remove the memory card from the camera and insert it in the card reader. Your computer will treat the card reader and SD card just like it treats an external hard drive. Either drag-n-drop or copy and paste your pictures from the SD card file to a file on your hard drive. If after you have copied and backed up your files you want to reformat your SD card, replace it in the camera and format it in the camera, not in the computer. SD cards formatted in a computer will often not work in your camera because of slight differences in the formatting.

Camera does not recognize any sd card

See if camera electronics can be reset. Contact the manufacturer for this procedure. If nothing can be done to restore camera to factory defaults then the electronics are fubar. May not be cost effective to repair.

New sandisk 8 gb sd card reports memory error when inserted in camera. other cards work in camera. card is recognized by laptop. tried reformatting by Vista

There are no 8GB SD cards. Cards this size are SDHC (High Capacity). SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

What memory card do I buy for my Kodak easyshare C530 camera.l The one I purchased was a SD card and it would not allow me to format.

The above link goes to a site that describes how SD or SDHC cards can be used in newer C cameras such as yours.

Also, the following should be noted regarding sd cards:

Question : Why doesn't my camera recognize the SECURE DIGITAL (SD) or MultiMedia (MMC) memory card that is in the camera? Answer : Your camera may not recognize the memory card inside for one of the following reasons:
  • The card is not fully inserted in the camera. Turn off the camera, insert a card into the slot, then push to seat it.
  • The card may be corrupted. Reformat the memory card.
CAUTION: Formatting deletes all pictures and videos, including those that are protected. Removing a card during formatting may damage the card.
  • The card may not be a certified SD or MMC card. Purchase a certified SD or MMC memory card.
See your camera's user manuals for more information. Go to KODAK Product Manuals, and select the manuals you need.

Reformatting sd memory card for canon camera an 8gb card and it told me I coudn't print pictures on my HP photosmart 380 series printer unless I reformatted my memory card??

If your camera is indeed an SD200, am sorry to say an 8GB SDHC will not work in this camera. The camera will fail to recognize it, and will do this by giving various problems as you've run into. The overall problem is that the camera was designed before the SDHC format came out (SDHC cards although the exact same in appearance are different in format than standard SD cards). The largest size card that the SD200 will recognize is a 2GB standard SD card.

Nikon D40 Memory Card Error

Hello. Make sure the write-protect switch on the SD card is in the UP (nearer to the contacts) position. Try the card in an SDHC capable reader on your computer first. Note that the SD card can only be inserted one way - make sure you're not putting it in upside-down! If the computer recognizes the presence of inserted card (whether it can read it or not), format it at FAT32. When finished, remove properly (icon in system tray) and insert into your D40 slot, WITH THE CAMERA OFF!! Turn on the D40, and if it now recognizes the SD card, FORMAT it again, in the camera. Good luck.

Faulty SD card

First try formatting the memory card in your PC and then try again. If that fails, purchase a new memory card of a different brand / manufacturer.
