Removing the JK07132-A convergence board

I have red and green ghosting on my 53UDX10B Hitachi rear projection TV, and I cannot adjust the red convergence. I took off the back cover and see a blackened resisitor on the JK07132-A convergence board. I've read advice here to replace the amps and resistors to repair convergence problems like I have. Do I need to discharge the caps before removing this board? Or can I simply unplug the connectors to it being careful where I touch otherwise?

    Welcomejee,

Thanks, I had it unplugged over 24 hours. I guess that was long enough.

    welcomejee,

Removing the board is another problem. It has 6 plastic snaps that hold
it in place, 3 on each side. Access to one snap on the far right is
blocked by a large cooling fin and what looks like a metal RF box and
by the side wall of the TV set, so I can't get my hand in there and a
screwdriver didn't work. I can release the other five snaps but not
this one, so the board won't come loose. The board is also held by a
plastic lip at the side farthest away from me so I can't pop it up on
the side I am able to release. Any ideas?

MY BLUE AND GREEN IS FINE BUT THE RED IS OUT OF LINE IN THE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THE SCREEN....IT LOOKS LIKE A BIG WAVE

    star823,

Try manual convergence alignment in service mode.
If you can't adjust red (I can't) then from what I've read here, the
convergence amps and some resistors need to be replaced. Time to call
in a tech if you can't DIY.

Unplug TV from ac outlet for few hours, this will discharge caps in circuit boards and you can take out desired board after unplugging connectors.
Always Be Careful while doing repair in TV.

Hitachi 53uwx10ba "Ghosting" blurring issue

Let me post a few photos and you let me know if they show something like your problem.

I suspect from your description you have a convergence problem.

If I am right rate this solution as I do this here for free.

My hitachi 53udx10b tv is out of focus.

rojamon,

That #4 error is listed as "overflow," and I got a"ROM overflow" errorwhen I tried to save my adjusted convergence data.I don't know whatthat all means yet, but if I figure out my problem,I'll post backhere. I've read here and elsewhere that the out-of-focusproblem comesfrom bad resistors or amps on the convergence board. Youcan tryservice mode to adjust convergence. Press the Magic Focusbutton, andthen press it again to stop it, and then press the Statusbutton onyour remote. Here's a link to the manual convergence procedure (scroll down).

Hitachi 53udx10b v1j013720

More than likely it is a convergence problem. Best way to tell is to unplug the plugs marked red conv, blue conv, and green conv. Careful not to unplug yoke plugs by mistake, and make sure you mark plug and board when disconnecting. If convergence amps are the problem, set should power up with convergence plugs disconnected. Do not leave set playing very long. This is just to verify problem. Your welcome, Russmann.

Hitachi 50UX14B rear projection: Took apart 2 clean, now red is off

What do you mean by covers? do you mean focual lens? did you replace them to there proper place (red to red, green to green, ect..). each has it's own focal legnth and must be placed on the correct gun. did you adjust (accidentaly) the red centering polls?if you did please have a tech readjust them you can end up with convergance amp overload. did you try to converge the lines? if they did not move when adjusting you may have a convergance amp problem. read my motto

53UDX10B 53 in. Rear Projection "3D vision"

I had the same problem with the same model earlier this year. You need to have the convergence module replaced on a circuit board inside. Expect to pay $400-$500 to a qualified repair shop.
