The nintendo ds only accepts WEP security. does your router have WEP security? if not, you gotta change it.

The access point's security settings are not supported by the nintendo DS

This means you've got a WPA/2 security connection on your router/access point, whereas the Nintendo DS only supports WEP or open encryption.
You can:
1) change your security from WPA to WEP on your router
2) Purchase a used nintendo wifi stick
3) Set up a second router or access point with WEP security specifically for your DS

I got wifi on my computer and i did a red lock . i got all the info and t still does not work. how can i get it to turn to blue lock.

The DS Lite only supports WEP. If your access point uses WPA, you will need to set it to use the less secure WEP instead, or disable security overall,

Alternatively, you can get a second access point set up with WEP or no security dedicated to be used with the Nintendo DS.

Im trying to get wi-fi connection on it and its telling me that "The access points security settings are not supported by the nintendo ds'

That means that the connection you're trying to connect to is probably a WEP-encrypted WiFi source. The Nintendo DS Lite cannot support that format of WiFi, however Nintendo has posted a very detailed and visual step-by-step guide in how to resolve that here
Just scroll down to "My security settings are not supported or are not compatible" and follow the instructions.

Good luck.

I'm trying to connect to my wifi in my house on my nintendo ds but every time I try it says the access points security settings are not supported for nintendo ds, what should I do?

The security settings on your wireless network's router aren't compatible with the DS. You can change the settings, but then you will have to adjust it for all other devices that use your wireless network. Here is a link to Nintendo's customer service site describing the issue in more detail.

I'm currently trying to connect my DS Lite to my home network. The router I'm trying to connect it to is a MAC router, and when I search for an access point, my DS does pick up that my router is there-...

The DS does not support the WPA encryption scheme; which is the only secure encryption scheme available. You could temporarily degrade the security in the router's admin page to WEP, though I would recommend you use public wifi when you have to, and keep yours secure.

How to get wifi

Hi. Please see procedure below:

  • When you try to connect your Nintendo DS on the internet, here are the steps that occur:
  • You choose the option "Search for access point".
  • The choices are given.
  • If the access point is in the form of a closed padlock gray, and the message "Security settings incompatible with the Ds" message, it means that your router is configured with security settings that the Nintendo DS does not support (WPA, WPA2, etc..).
  • The only solution is to configure your router to WEP because it is the only security that the console recognizes.

I cant get my nintedno ds to connect to my router

The problem may be your security settings. The Wii and PSP can access WiFi no matter what the security settings are if you have the key, but the DS can't access highly encrypted WEP security. Double check your security settings and then re-input your code.

Re:-DS Lite.WiFi set-up. Asked for a Access Point. Came up. '' This access point's security settings are not supported by the Nintendo DS.'' ? It was accepted on my Wii?

    Hi,

The DS lite only supports WEP which would have a HEX key password, if you have a pass key or pass phrase then chances are you are using WPA or WPA2 which is not supported on the DS lite.

The WEP key is an older form of security and has been found to have some weaknesses but to be honest its still secure enough for a home wifi set-up.

Here is a link to an article explaining more about the differences between the two.

You can change your settings on the wireless router, but you will then have to adjust the settings on your Wii accordingly.
