Audio service refuses to start

The obvious, is it muted? NO. Disable device in Device Manager, enable device, no change, uninstall audio device, reboot, I don't know your OS, your OS should automaticly ID the audio an add driver. If it does not go to Acer website a download audio driver for your OS. Install manually. You stated,"after installing a hard drive I had from another laptop" . The Harddrive you installed, did you format it and install into this laptop and clone the drive? I am a bit confused by the statment, "after installing a hard drive I had from another laptop"?

Sound drivers problem

You can download the drivers from this link (click here), open the link, click "download" and select the "Operating System" and again click the name of the country beside "Realtek Function driver for Realtek Azalia audio chip (Including Microsoft UAA Driver in English edition)". You have to understand that only the Audio driver will not work unless Microsoft UAA driver is pre-installed. The above mentioned driver is packed with the Microsoft UAA driver, so once you start the installation, it'll automatically install with the audio driver. If the problem persists, download the "Microsoft UAA (Universal Audio Architecture) Bus driver (Full Multi-language version )" and install it before you install the audio driver.

If you need further help, let me know with the name of the Operating System installed on your computer like windows xp or windows vista or windows 7, etc..etc...

Good luck.

Access the manufacturer's web-site: http://support.dell.com
and click "Detect My PC".
It will run a program to identify which Dell you have,
and it will offer downloads of device-drivers, including one for "audio".
Download it, and install it.
No audio on my computer

Dear friend, i have to give you 2 solutions.
First and far more easy and fast:
Go to another computer, download the drivers for your computer, save it to a USB-FLASH and go to your laptop and install them.
Secondly, you could download Driver-pro or driver detective, both of them though are trials and you will need to buy them.At last i would recommend the first solution.Good Luck!
