Upper rack travel sticks and jams.....

The upper rack appears to be sticking in several postions and does not travel smoothly in and out.........it sometimes cannot be pulled out at all......

  • Anonymous Jul 22, 2008

I have much the same problem -- on an Asko 1385. I just took out the top rack -- there are two clips on mine, not a rotating thing. Looks like there are indeed 8 bearings.

Seems like the problem is getting those end stops out. They're pretty deformed and probably need to be replaced. In fact, the slides are covered with soap residue.

So should I try to replace the slides, or clean them? And can you be more precise about how to get those end stops out? They are held top and bottom? Hard to see and I don't want to break them.

    Thanks

Same problem. Would like more details on prying out the rear stops.

You have a bad bearing retainer. you will need to call an asko parts dealer and order 8 upper rack ball bearings, and two ball bearing guides (they are grey plastic and break over time, causing the rack to jam. To replace tham, you must take the upper rack out by turning the plastic retainers on the front of both rails 90 degrees towards the outside of the machine. The slide the whole basket out. Now look at the back of the rails inside the dishwasher. there shoul be 2 more grey plastic retainers with bumpers on them in the rear. These must be pried out wiht a screwdriver (be careful, have cut myself several times on this job till i figured out the best way to do it. cover the bottom hole in the dishwasher with a rag, as you are likely to drop the old bearings when you slide the rails out. Slide out both the rails. Put your new (or old if youve got all 8) ball bearings into the ball bearing holders, then put the holders into the rail thats attached to the dishwasher. slide the rails back in, andthen put all your retainers back in and your rack. you may have to slide the rack in and out a few times before it will center the bearings and work smoothly. Should cost you about $12 in parts. Good Luck!

My machine is Janine 382. When I try to stitch , the bobbin thread does comes up but when I continue with the fabric, it gets jammed .and the upper thread breaks. It seems like it tries to take the fabric...

Hi, here are a few reasons it could be.1. use same thread in bobbin and needle.2. thread too old. 3. Cheaper thread frays and knots.
4.Thread and/or needle, incorrect size for the material sewn
5. Incorrect tension for the material sewn. And 6, thread tangled underneath feed dogs or bobbin. Hope this helps. :-)

Kenmore 3380957 rev a won't get dishes clean

Make sure that that upper arm is free to turn. Check it while you have dished installed, because sometimes, dishes on the lower rack may stick up too high and hit it. Otherwise, check the back of the water-supply tube attached to that upper rack.... Is it lining up with the water feed port or hole at the backof the dishwasher? Is there a gasket that is either ripped or missing? And check that wash arm carefully.... Might it be split or bent? Are the holes on the bottom clear? (Those holes are usually angled to push the arm around; if they are clogged, the arm won't rotate.)

Our lexmark c544dn has a paper jam but when I open the front cover I do not see one. What else should I do?

Pull back the fuser cover ( black upper area) and look for the jam beneath the black roller with paper sticking up - to pull it out

Just fixed my Frigidaire. The outboard o-ring on the main pump became distorted and stretched. Check your local hardware store as Frigidaire wants $17.50 + shipping. Good luck

I have replaced ignition switch, ignition box, upper solenoid, and starter on my F 150 302 auto trans truck. My starter still sticks What next?

Sticks as in Hangs in flywheel - or sticks as in stays on?

302 has several starters. Some with subtle differences that shops and parts stores often mix/confuse. Wrong starter will often hang in flywheel.

If sticking is "staying on" - powered after key is released, Please disregard.

1996 Volvo 960 power steering not smooth

Flushing is recommended. Have a look at the upper and lower couplings at the steering rod just before the steering rack which could be jammed.

Paper is jamming right as it exits

The "wrinkled"pressure roller should be replaced, but how does the Upper fuser roller look? It is probably the main culprit of the jamming. Is the surface deteriorated? It should be fairly flawless (teflon looking). If the surface is looking "rough" it is causing the paper to stick, because this "roughness" is usually a build up of toner that is not being released to wear, so the pages get "stuck" to it rather than passing smoothly through.
