No water coming out of my Kohler Forte R10275-4-BN shower valve

Hello I need help on a Kohler Forte R10275-4-BN shower valve I had installed but NO water comes out of the shower nozzle when I turn the handle to cold (my hot is not connected yet). This model is for a shower only no opening at the bottom for a bath tub. Both brass valve stops are open (one for hot one for cold coming in from the sides) to allow water to come into the central valve, I know this because I took out the center plastic cluster of the main Kohler vale (the part that would turn with the decorative handle) and water comes out.

Thanks so much Phil, someone today mentioned the same thing to me. And makes sense, since my hot water is not plumbed from the hot
water heater yet (since I did not have the gas hooked up). I will hook
it up in the next few days and test it.

This is a pressure balancing valve that needs both cold and hot water pressure to operated. It is an anti-scald safety operation.

Good Luck, Phil

Kohler R10430-N-BN Forte kitchen faucet. Low water pressure initially until I pull the spray head out.

will water pressure remain low as long as spray head in in faucet body? have you checked under sink to insure no kinks or restrictions on line. check that counter weight on hose is secure and and not obstructing line. Call Kohler for more help.

Replaced shower valve. still drips from tub spout

The cartridge has 2 or 3 o-ring type seals around it that feed the water through, it picks up both hot and cold and mixes them. Some cartridges are replaced as one, some you have to replace the seals, just take the faucet info to the hardware store and match it up. I think the diverter is for the shower. It sends the water up instead of out.

Kohler shower valve (hot/cold switched)

Just had this same thing, on this exact faucet. If you still have the manual, it has instructions on how to rotate the valve for back to back installations where one shower has the hot/cold reversed. Our contractor got ours in backwards the first time and I had to call and have them come out and rotate the valve this morning.

Faucet issue

Sounds like it was installed upside down or the cartridge is installed improperly

Water coming from showerhead and bath spout at same time

Have whoever installed the shower set come back and fix the diverter. It should be a relatively simple adjustment.

Kohler K-9511

It sounds like there is dirt or other debris in the unit. Here is the installation guide. Take it apart and look for debris which would block the mechanism:

Kohler K-9511-BN MasterShower Shower Arm & Diverter Doesn't Work

As a helpful hint , on these models, When installed some plumbers or home owners use plumbers putty to seal the threads and in some cases tape.
Most of the time the putty or tape gets pushed through the system if too much was used.
Check by removing the shower head and testing the pressure and blowing anything else through, then checking the head itself for foreign objects.
Kohler has a cleaning and care page on thier web site if it needs cleaned.
