2 months ago the motor capacitor was replaced as the machine would only fill - would not agitate, spin or drain. About 2 weeks ago, we filled it to wash and while it would wash, it would not drain again. Please suggest what part may not be working. I phoned the same service agent that fixed it the first time, who said it could be one of many parts and unlikely that it is the same one that they replaced that is faulty.
Here are some basic troubleshooting steps you can follow to help you determine why your washing machine won't drain:
1. Check the drain hose in the back of the machine and make sure it isn't kinked or flattened.
2. If it spins but won't drain, there could be a piece of fabric stuck between the inner and outer tub, or even the drain hose or pump itself. The farther into the machinery a clog goes, the trickier it can be to remove. It could also be a faulty timer.
3. Are clothes soaked at the end of the wash, even though it appears to go through the spin and drain cycles? Worn or loose belts could be the culprit.
4. When the spin cycle starts, do you hear a humming noise? It could be a faulty or jammed impeller pump.

SOURCE: Will not drain or spin
Unless you jarred the machine it's the timer. You can check this by bypassing the lid switch and seeing if it will cycle.

It sounds like you pump is clogged. If there is something stuck in your pump the motor can't spin it to drain the water. If that is the problem then it's easy to fix. Simply clear the pump and put it back on, just make sure to clamp off the hoses to the pump with hose clamps or you will have water every where. If that is not the problem though then it means that your timer is bad and that is a little more expensive. Try the pump first though and hope that that is all it is. If not, like I said, you will need a new timer but most likely your pump is just clogged with something that is causing the pump motor to not spin. It could be a coin or a hair pin or even a sock or something. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

try replacing your water selenoid coming in. remember it isnt a mechanical timer it is a computerized timer, so if the selenoid isnt the problem, it might be the computerized timer. computers are very finicky, pain in the a- -!
