Magic chef electric oven...went to change clock settings, while oven was on and ab 5 appeared on screen, oven shut off and now can't do anything w/ it. Tried pushing cancel, bake, broil, timer and clock w/ no luck. Can't cook Christmas ham now and I don't have a manual. Help!

To
provide sabbath feature (or to cancel this setting):
1. Push the PREHEAT pad and set the oven
temperature to 500°F/260°C or more using the UP
ARROW pad.
2. Push the PREHEAT pad within the next 2 seconds
for 3-4 seconds. A beep sounds and a number
appears in red to the right of the display. For the
conversion, "3" must be displayed. If another number
is displayed, push the PREHEAT pad and select
"3".
3. Push the UP or DOWN ARROW pad to change
from 12 hour to 9999 in the display, for no 12 hour
shut-off.
4. Push the CANCEL pad to confirm your choice.

Other Displays:
When proceeding through steps 1 and 2 in the
Temperature Scale Conversion or in the elimination
of the Sabbath feature /12-hour Shut-off time limit,
two other words can be seen in the display. One is ESC
with O in red. It cannot be changed. The other is USE or
SALE with 3 in red. This one is for factory use and should
stay on USE.

25 yr old oven...........so I bought a new one with a few blemishes for $200.

this is usually a temp sensor probe problem.check you wiring between the probe and the electronic control board. at room tempt check the resistance on the probe if it less than 500 ohms replace the probe.

I'm not familiar with this oven, but it ought to have protection against this kind of exciting burn-out.
This could be a fuse: find it and replace it, or it could be a circuit breaker: look for a reset button.
As I said, I don't know this oven; this attempt to help is based on the general idea that it ought to have some built in protection.

I was unable to get the full model to come up. I was able to get a Magic chef range to come up. I would replace the control and oven thermostat.

Lucky for you(?) I had to reset our clock for daylight savings and checked here before i found my manual. If you're still looking for an answer, press the + & - buttons at the same time, let go and you have 4 seconds to press the + key again to set the time

If it has a timer, make sure it is set to manual,and not flashing auto.
In the auto mode the oven will not work.

Yes this is normal. you can use that burner to keep things warm without turning it on, saves energy.
