Error 6 on in car stereo

My son has a Clarion head unit that at present will not play cd's. It spins them then flashes up "error 6". What can be done to sort and what is error 6? Cheers Carl

Hi Noggin, thanks for the fast response. I have tried a disc the other way up and it flashes error 6 instantly. I tried the other way up and it spins for a while before showing the message. I have tried a cleaning disc but it does the same with that. ANy other suggestions? Cheers Carl

Oh and I tried with a genuine non copied disc so compatability shouldn't be an issue I guess

I also have the same problem. In the book it says you can also reset everything with a small rod by inserting in the little hole behind the face plate but that also does not work! I will try a CD cleaner disc today because the cotton swap thing wont work with the little opening it gives us for the CD to enter. You do know it is a in-dash car unit right?Right now i play my portable CD through the aux plugs from the back of the receiver and it works just fine for now.

Here is the link to the user manual for your player if you need it; http://www.clarion.com/gb/en/MungoBlobs/483/874/DXZ838RMP-EU.pdf Page 38 of the manual (page 42 of the pdf file) describes the error codes error 6 states "a disk is loaded upside down inside the cd deck and doesnt play properly" Suggested solution is to try the disc the other way up, if this doesn't help then there is most likely a problem with the lens - possibly cured by cleaning, please ask again if you want to try this yourself and we can talk you through it Hope this helps :)

ps - check also that the cds you where trying to play were of the correct type, and burned in the correct format, also that the settings are correct for the type you are using - page 21 (25 pdf)

    :)

Next thing to try is cleaning the lens - use a cotton bud which you have dipped in alcohol - rubbing alcohol is ok - but let the cotton bud dry mostly before going at the lens.

Figure out how to get to the lens and very gently wipe it with the cotton bud.

Remember the lens is not that scratch resistant, and it is quite finely positioned, so wipe, dont scrub.

If that doesnt help, then check that there is adequate voltage to the unit - it may have enough to appear to function but not to initiate the laser - bad ground cable would be the first suspect.

If no luck with that then i think the set needs to be serviced properly - sorry

if you need help finding a service centre let me know with your general area :)

When i install cd it says error 6 on my clarion dxz465mp

Clarion Audio error codes:

Error Codes:

Error 1 Battery inside CD Changer needs to be replaced.

Error 2 CD error message. Mechanism has as eject problem or takes a long time to select CD.

Error 3 CD error message. The pick-up is out of focus during play mode due to scratches on the disc or contamination.

Error 4 Connection problem. Reconnect the data cable.

Error 5 CD error message. Could not read correct data due to CD ROM.

Error 6 CD error message. Could not read data from disc because it is upside-down.

Error 8 Tape Drive system defective. Eating tape or something wrong with the drive system.

Error 9 Weak RF. Try alternate frequency

Even though it says error 6 is an upside down cd, it just means the disc cant be read. usualy means the laser is dirty, out of adjustment, or not working.

Clarion DXZ385USB will not play from the usb input

It is not compatible. I had the same receiver and mp3 player. according to the Clarion website, an "ERROR 5" is the message for a compatibility problem. You probably got an "ERROR 2"(format problem) when you had the player plugged in and then cycled through the sources(that's how I received the error).

I have since bought an Ipod and the USB input works just fine. Clarion says the deck is MTP compatible, but it will not run a lot of MTP devices. Only Ipods and certain memory sticks. The Creative Zen Vision M is read as an MTP device when it it plugged into anything like a computer, Xbox 360, and the Clarion USB receivers. The Clarion units even attempt to read it as an MPT device, but will not play. It is not an issue with the receiver or the MP3 files. The Creative Vision M is not a compatible device, sorry.

My DXZ585USB unit will not play my recorded Flash Drive. It gives me an error 2?? The Flash Drive plays in my computer but not in my receiver. Have I recorded my flash drive correctly? It is a SanDisk 4GB...

I had the same problem, same unit. I was using a keychain drive that I had formatted with NTFS file system. I tried reformatting the drive with FAT32 file system, and it worked, no more error.

I have an error code 6 for a Clarion DRX5675, any fixes?

According to the manual, error code 6 is when the stereo can't read the table of contents on the CD. This could be due to scratches along the inner tracks of the disc, an audio CD-R that was not closed or finished, or the disc is being inserted upside down. If the error code only appears for a single or few discs, chances are it's not an issue with the player, but the disc(s) themselves.

Clarion arx9270 error

Typically means the CD is stuck, has a reading error, or the magazine is stuck. If jammed, you'll have to clear the stuck CD which may require disassembly. Try removing power and rebooting.

If all else fails, I recommend contacting a local car audio professional, or you may contact Clarion customer support directly by clicking here:

I trust this information has proven beneficial.
