SOURCE: harmon kardon avr 25 ii

I upgraded my HK AVR 20II and ran into the same problem when I tried to hook the old unit up out in my garage.

Luckily I remember that on the rear there is a pre-out RCA port (L/R) and a Main-In port that are intended to be to/from an equalizer/amplifier. These come jumpered out of the box, but I had been using an equalizer so the jumpers were long lost.

Assuming you also have no amp/eq you are using, just connect the Pre-Out to the Main-In using a standard M/M RCA cable and you will be in business. (turn the volume down first!)

Good luck.

hey i also had this problem, i don't know the name of these but they are basically plugs that you have to block output from the front rear and center speakers of the white/red cables... sry for bad description but its on the left side when looking at the back of the receiver, while all of the other speaker wires should be hooked up to the right with the twisting knobs... it took me forever to find this out but yeah it was a simple fix

SOURCE: harmon kardon avr 125 shuts down

CHECK YOUR WIRING!!! I have had problems from time to time, generally after re-arranging, and have found speaker wires slightly touching on 1 channel caused my AVR to give similar problems. GOOD LUCK!!!

SOURCE: was using the harmon kardon avr 225 receiver and the front panel went out. .... screen display of the channel number, volume, or menu item does not work. ...

Try hooking up a yellow video wire from the back of the AVR 225 Monitor out. Should be at the end of the 7 or 8 yellow video ports on the back of the stereo. Next plug the other end into a yellow video in on a t.v. Get your remote, (Harmon/Kardon) and make sure the t.v. is on the correct video input and hit the OSD(on screen display) button on your harmon remote. There should be a setting in there that says VFD under ADVANCED menu option that allows for turning the front of your stereo lights on and off and dimming them half way also. OFF/HALF/FULL are the 3 options I believe.

If this doesnt solve it your display may have crapped out on you.

Trying to connect samsung smart tv to harmon kardon avr 330 with toslink cable, but i'm not gettting any sound through the receiver to speakers

The inputs may be assignable on the Harman Kardon. Make sure you have selected the proper analog or digital input type for the cable you are using. When i turn on my harmon kardon avr 165 it shows ''Protect'' and then it turns off again?? what can i do :)

I would try disconnecting the speakers, then turn it on. If protect still shows with no speakers connected, then it needs to go to the repair shop- Might be a blown power transistor.

I have the Harman Kardon AVR 254. Just recently it stopped responding. It will cut on and the volume dial will respond but none of the front panel buttons will. Any suggestions on a fix?

There should be two fuses on the secondary board of the main power transformer. They don't look like regular fuses - they are small round can fuses. These are probably open. HK under-valued these fuses originally, and they need to be replaced with 3.15 amp.

Need starchoice codes for Karman Kardon AVR 220

http://www.starchoice.ca/english/customercare/techcentral/remote_controls.asp

Look here for the codes to whatever remote you have. The chances are there arent any though. Harmon Kardon codes are a very unique signal that most remotes cant duplicate. More than likely you are going to have to use the original Harmon Kardon remote.
