If you have the model number, go to Toro.com and click on Master Parts Viewer. Type in the model number, choose assembly drawings, find your part and the part number and bring it to a Toro dealer to order it. You can also order the part online through partstree.com.

I have ryobi 137r . i cannot ge the head off to replace the string

Take a large adjustable wrench and grip the bump head (black plastic) at the same time use your other hand to hold the line spool (orange plastic) rotate the the wrench in a counter clockwise direction slowly and carefully to ensure you are not applying force in any other plane than parallel to the spool or you may damage the bump head threads just until it breaks free. Remove the rest of the way by hand. This happens to me from time to time. If you care you can put a small amount of graphite on the bumphead threads to allow it to come off with hand pressure.

Ryobi 26cc gas trimmer. Can't replace line. Used 1 8'' line thru slots in spool. (3'' each side). Don't understand next step. Push down spool and twist? Should spool stay level...

You line up the head with "arrows" by turning the plastic bump knob on extreme bottom. When arrows line up with the head then you insert your line through the slots "OR" you insert the line in one side and it comes out the other side. Then you have to push pressure DOWN ******* the bump head while twisting the bump head clockwise to "pull in" the string until there's only about six inches left remaining on the "shortest" piece hanging out the side. use scissors to make the lines equal in size before staring the trimmer. Hope this helps.

I need to put in new string -- don't know how to install. I need to know what to remove -- do I unscrew something, or do I just stick the string inside the casing?

This trimmer is an "AFS" (Automatic Feed System) trimmer meaning the trimmer uses centrifugal force and a lever that play out trimmer line without you ahving to bump it on the ground. Your trimmer uses .080" diamter line. You can get a replacement spool and lever at Lowe's fairly cheap. I would say get the spool that is already wound rather than trying to buy just the line and re-spooling...that will make this a LOT easier!

What you do to replace the line is place the trimmer on a stable flat surface (like a workbench), raise up the head of the trimmer and follow the steps below:

1. Remove the spool cover (this is the orange cap on the head)

2. Remove the spool, (observe and note the orientation of the spool!)

3. Using a pair of pliers, pull the orange feed lever straight out (observe and note the orientation of the lever!)...do not try to pry it off, you will damage the head!

4. Insert the new lever in the same orientation you noted when you removed the old one.

5. Insert the new spool and line in the same orientation as the old spool.

6. Replace the cap.

Black and Decker has an 800 number you can call if you get stuck, the number is 1-800-544-6986. Good Luck!

Bump n go feeder not working in petrol line trimmer every time the line gets shorter, bumping the base no longer releases more line and i have to undo the screw and physically feed more through.

It sounds like the string is not spooled correctly. Try re-spooling the string, ensuring the string will be able to freely move when the feeder is bumped.

Either that or you may be almost out of string and need to get more and re-spool.

You are pulling the trigger to make it spin while bumping, right? The bump-n-go action is based on centrifugal force.

How do you add trimmer line to Troy Bilt TB539E Weed Eater?

This model trimmer uses .095" diameter line, your local home improvement store will carry replacement line and it will also carry a replacement spool with the line already spooled on it.

This trimmer is a "bump advance" trimmer meaning you bump the head on the ground while it is spinning to advance line out.

What to do to replace the line is place the trimmer on a stable flat surface (like a workbench), raise up the head if the trimmer and unscrew the cap and CAREFULLY remove the spool...you do not want to lose the spring! Take a look at the spool, it will show the direction to spool the line, spool the line then replace the spool by first putting the spring back on the shaft, then put the end of the line through the hole(s) on the side of the outer head, press the spool in place and screw the cap back on.

Of course you can eliminate about 90% of the headaches by buying a pre-spooled head at your local home improvement store...then you follow the directions above and can skip the spooling part. Cheers!

No directions on how to re-string the spool on my TB-720

On the bump mechanism, line up the two arrows, then unscrew the bump, this will release the spool, then you wind the two strings in the opposite directions, the arrow on the spool will tell you the direction to wind the string, replace spool, spring, bump feed, and you are good to go. I hope this has helped you.

Cant get the spool off homelite trimmer

Unscrew the bump-knob and the rest pulls off. If it won't unscrew you could always cut it off and buy a new one from ALM Manufacturing 01423 797208
