Yes, it works with rechargeable 2CR5 batteries. You'll see a few options for such batteries and chargers on ebay if searching for "2CR5 charger"

You can get rechargeable CR5 battery and you will need a battery charger as well.

Any strange shaped specific battery has multiple commercial batteries inside that are spot welded to each other. The interior can be replaced with new rechargeable commercial batteries if necessary.

Minolta Maxxum 400si is locked up

link to your manual, it tells us that we have a winding motor problem, I would do as you have done, so I would ensure that batterys are in great shape, the only other thing I could suggest is to try to turn the winding motor by hand in case it is just locked up. Failing that I presume the motor has died and needs replacement.

Cant find the batteries for the cam

It uses a 2CR5 battery, which should be available at most electronics or office-supply stores. An online source is at http://www.batteriesplus.com/product/31018-RAYRL2CR5--1-Lithium-Battery/563-0/4739-Film-Camera-Battery/56279-Minolta/Maxxum-400si.aspx

It has a Minolta A-mount lens. Any of the newer Minolta (and some Sony) lenses may be used. The older Minolta lenses for the SRT-series cannot be used.

What battery for Milolta maxxum 400si

You need one 2CR5 lithium cell for your camera. They're still available, see here for details. Note that other suppliers stock them as well, I only link to the supplier provided as they're where I buy mine and the page shows you alternative model numbers that the battery is sometimes known by.

Minolta Maxxum 4 & 5 - battery problems

it may not be the camera's. Some retail stores do not rotate their stock....in other words you may be purchasing an old battery. Check the dates on the package. My suggestion to you is to buy your batteries at a camera shop.

Film won't load on Minolta 400si Maxxum Camera

My daughter took the camera to her photography teacher he was able to load the film by wrapping more film around the roller. It's not as easy to load as my Canon. I thought we had put plenty of film around it already. Oh well, it's working anyway.

Lens

Sorry, the mounts of Minolta manual focus lenses are different than their auto focus series. Sigma, Tokina and Tamron all make compatible zoom lenses to fit the Maxxum series cameras
