I recently purchased the GE 27957GE1 2.4GHz corded phone which also came with the seperate cordless handset. In addition, we bought a second handset which is compatible. The problem is the handset that came with the main phone does not work at all. No dial tone, no nothing. The second handset works fine. I tried multiple times to re-link it to no success. Any thoughts?
Follow the following instructions to set the base station on "Wating..."
READ EVERYTHING BEFORE DOING IT!
Because you need to be quite fast between steps 3 and 4-5.
1. Press the FLASH/PROGRAM button on the base until LINK HANDSET?
shows in the display. 2NO is the default setting.
2. Press the 1 number key or press the REVIEW or NEXT button on the base
to scroll to 1YES.
3. Press FLASH/PROGRAM on the base to confirm handset is linked to the
base. WAITING HANDSET REGISTRATION shows in the display.
NOW COMES THE TRICKY PART.
4-5. Press the flash/program button 4 times (you should hear a beep every time). NO is the default setting, so press CID/VOL (?or?) button on the handset to scroll to YES.
And
6. Press flash/program on the handset again to confirm. You will hear a long beep and the stations will be linked.
Here it is, 2008, March and still no answer! LOL! I am having the same problem! It linked fine when I first got it, and now since I can't find the manual I can't get it to link again! Can anyone help? Please

I have purchased a GE27957GE1 cordless phone. The display on the main handset looks garbled and unable to read. Also I am unable to link the handset to the main base.please help
I have the GE 27957 cordless 2.4 mhz phone. Recently the cordless handset ocassionally cuts out without any warning. If I disconnect the battery and then reconnect it, it starts working again, so I don.t think it is the battery. It is out of warrenty, so if there is no easy fix, canI get a new handset that would be compatible with the base unit?
