My Kodak Easy Share z740 Digital Camera will not format ANY SD card. I am using a 2GB SanDisk card. HELP

I also have 4GB SDHC card and I know that it is not compatible with my camera and a 2GB should be. Although no matter what card I use it keeps doing the same thing. When I turn it on - it says memory card needs formatted. I tell it to format - and it just repeats the Memory Card requires formatting message. Help me place I really like this camera and would hate to have to give it up.

SOURCE: Won't format new memory card

Your camera is not SDHC compatible. It will only support standard SD cards. Sorry.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: new memory card will not format

You are probably using a 4 gigabyte memory card and your camera will only support a 2 gigabyte card. Get the right card and it will format properly.

SOURCE: I have Z612 Kodak Easyshare

I had the same problem when I bought a 4GB card to replace the original 2GB. When I took it back to BestBuy where I bought the camera, I was told that this camera could only use a 2GB card. So, I bought a 2GB card, installed it, and everything was fine.

I have a Kodak easy share z740 and it won't let me

What type and size memory card?
The Z740 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. I suspect you're trying to use an SDHC card, 4GB or larger.

I have a Kodak Z740 easyshare camera that will not format a 4gb sdhc memory card but will format a 512 mb card why is this

The Z740 works with MMC and SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work with the Z740. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

This assumes it's a Z740.

I have a Kodak Z740 dig camera. Ive just bought a 4gb dane-elec sd HC chip but when I get the screen format I klick continue but the session stops. Any ideas or is the HC chip not compatible with this...

According to the manual the Z740 uses SD and MMC cards. That means that SDHC cards such as your 4GB card will not work with this camera. You are limited to SD cards up to 2GB in size.

I have a Kodak Easyshare Z740 & we just purchased an 8gb sdhc SanDisk & it keeps saying it needs to be formatted it says everything will be deleted and then goes back to disk needs to be formatted...

You need to buy an SD card. the Z740 works with SD and MMC cards, not SDHC cards. While SDHC cards will fit into an SD slot, there are hardware differences which keep them from working. SD cards will work in SDHC devices but not the other way around.

Again, you need to use SD cards, which max out at 2GB. Anything larger is an SDHC card, which does not work in your camera.

SDHC Card 4 GB SanDisk will not format. get

The Z740 uses SD cards, not SDHC cards. SDHC cards will physically fit into the card slot but are not compatible. It's a hardware incompatibility, not updatable in firmware. You'll have to stay with 2GB and smaller SD cards.

Same as yours

The Z740 supports only MultiMediaCards & SD Memory Cards. 4GB and larger SD cards are usually SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) types - and bear the SDHC mark on the label. These cards are not compatible with this camera. Use only MMC and SD cards. SD cards are 2 GB and under - although *some* 4 GB cards are marked as SD too; these cards may or may not work. If you purchase a 4 GB SD (not SDHC) card, make sure that it can be returned if it doesn't work reliably in your camera.
