To reset the pruge counter try this...

  1. Start with printer off
  2. Press and hold resume Button (triangle in the circle) and click "Power" button. Green led should be on
  3. While holding the Power button, release the Resume Button.
  4. Without releasing the Power Button, click "Resume" button for two times and release Both Buttons.
  5. Click "Resume" for four times then soon click "Power" button, to confirm the selected action (reset counter absorber).
  6. Turn off the printer and turn on again
This will however not clean the ink absorber that your printer believes is full. The estimate for how full the absorber is can be pretty generous so it is likely that you could print hundreds of pages before any ink overflows. It will however overflow eventually is not replaced but it can be a pretty involved proceedure. For example see this video for a different printer.

Whenever i turn on the printer i get a error 6C10

This error is related to the ink absorber/waste ink tank located internally in the printer. Normally you would have to send your Canon to be serviced to resolve this problem, but there is a video turotial on YouTube that shows how to reset this error: Canon MP550 Ink Absorber Reset (6C10 Error Code) - YouTube

It wont print

Double check that the error isn't 6C10. I also thought I had an 8C10 error also and that's how I found your unanswered question! But I couldn't find any other internet reference to 8C10 but I did find a YouTube fix for a 6C10 error message. So I got my reading glasses and looked again. Sure enough it was a 6C10 error! I followed the instructions for the 6C10 error fix (resetting Ink Absorber Reset) and my printer is now functioning. Bonus note: My printer is a MP620 and the reset was for a MP550. Same error number though! and also same solution. By now your printer has probably crossed that printer rainbow bridge... but hopefully someone else will need your help? With my reset, I am going to run my $$$ ink cartridges out instead of maintenancing the absorber and then toss mine as well!

6C10 error cannon printer MP640

This error could appear on these Canon Pixma printers: MP110, MP540, MP630, MP620, MP640, IP3600...

Solution 1:
  • Move the printhead to the center.
  • Disconnect the printer and check on the right: is the purge unit ok ? No peace of paper ?

Solution 2:
  • Do a reset of the printer:
  • Power on
  • Hold down the "Resume" button (triangle in a circle) for 15 to 20 seconds.

Solution 3:
  • Power off the printer.
  • Open the door.
  • Power on.
  • When the cartridge is in the center, close the door.
Solution 4:
  • Open the lid and allow the ink cartridge carrier to center itself.
  • Looking to the right, you will see a row of white rollers behind the carrier.
  • At the end of the rollers there is a small, clear piece of plastic that sticks up. Take a small piece of a paper towel and wipe all of the ink off this piece of plastic. When that is clean move on to the ink pad.
  • About 1 inch, towards the front of the printer from that piece of plastic, is a small square, about 1/2 inch per side, that is a small foam pad. This is where the excess ink is collected.
  • Take a piece of paper towel and press into the foam. Do this until the paper towel is no longer collecting ink. Close the lid, turn off the printer then turn it back on.

Error 6C10 cannon pixma MG6170 Problem

This appears to be the " absorber full error message".
This message is never due to the operating system, from what I read.
This is a hardware error.
I am afraid I was not able to dig up a direct solution to this answer. The manufacturer (Cannon) requests you have one of their repairmen come to repair it.
This link is to another 6c10 error problem, perhaps it can help you.
