I have a Meridian M5316 and the there is an existing voicemail on the phone how do I change the voicemail without knowing the current password?

to change the password, you need the existing password. Ask the IT department for help as they should know what password was previously used, or contact the personnel department to ask the previous employee for their password used.

You will need to replace the phone most likely.

Are you referring to the voice mail on your cell? What company do you have service with? If using cell, you may be able to try dialing 611 and then press the send or call button. then select the option for reset password. (When you received the phone, were you able to put it in your name with your account info? If so, you may be able to provide answers to the security questions with your account to reset your password.) Let me know if this helps.

Depending what system your provider is using it can either be done by you at home or they will have to set it. If you call your provider they will help you or they will fix it. Each ring is set at 6 second intervals so if you have 3rings that is 18 seconds. If you was 6 rings then ask for 36 seconds etc. hope this helps

press feature 983 the screen should say log:
enter 1020000 (default password) if you have a 3 digit intercom number, 120000 if you have a 2 digit intercom number
the display should say m box, AA, and other, above the three soft keys
press the m box soft key
the screen should say add, Del , and change above the soft keys
press the change soft key
enter in the mailbox number you wish to reset the password on
press o k
the screen should say reset and next above the soft keys
press the reset soft key
press the RLS key
your password should be reset to 0000 The default .

To Change the Date and Time:

1. Press
2. Press the volume key until "Time and Date Set?" is shown on the display
3. Press
4. Enter the date using the format shown on the display (DDMMYY)
5. Enter the current time based on the 24-hour clock
6. Press to save the new time and date settings
7. Press or to exit the programming mode

To Change the Display Fomat:

1. Press
2. Press the volume key until "Time and Date Format?" is shown on the display
3. Press
4. Press the volume key until the desired format is shown on the display
5. Press to save the new setting
6. Press or to exit the programming mode

Have your system administrator go into voicemail programming and reset the mailbox password. The default password will be "0000".
I hope you understand that having passwords in the first place is a security measure, so I will not give directions for hacking into your companies voicemail system.

How to Change a Mailbox Password 1. To access the voice mail system press "Feature".
2. Press "983".
3. When you see "Log:" enter "120000" for 2 digit extension numbers, enter "1020000" for 3 digit extension numbers.
4. Press "OK".
5. Press "MBOX".
6. Press "CHNG".
7. Enter the mailbox number you wish to reset.
8. Press "Reset".
9. Press "Rls" to exit (orange button to the right of the number buttons).
Default password is "0000".

After you dial Feature 9 8 1 and type in the password, if you press the number 8, this will get you into the admin for your mailbox; where you can change the password, name, and greeting, just listen to the prompts.

Actually, even as a technician, you will never know the origonal password.
But you can get in to reset the existing password back to 0 0 0 0.

There are a couple of steps; depending on your voicemail system, voicemail's are done differently, but try this first.

got to a M7310 set
-> dial FEATURE 9 8 3
-> password: 1 0 2 0 0 0 0
-> you should now see ADMIN and under that MBOX, AA, OTHR
press MBOX
-> press CHNG
-> dial the extension of the phones that you need changed
-> you should now see PASSWORD and under it RESET, press RESET (This resets the mailbox back to 4- zero's)
-> hit the * to back up and repeat fopr all the other extensions.
-> hit RLS after all is done and voila... you have now changed those passwords to those mailboxes.

Now when the new users dial F981 at their desks, and dial 0 0 0 0 the first prompt they get is pleasde change password.

If you reset the mailbox password, then it would be "0000".
