WF860 drum filling with water

My hotpoint WF860 will not drain all of the water away after a 40 degree wash, the clothes at the top are spun but the lower clothes are sitting in a small amount of water.  If I put on just a spin program the drum empties fully of water.  When the washing machine is not being used the drum slowly starts to fill with water!!  help

Normally I would think that the problem is with the drain system (faulty pump or clogged lines), but you told me that also "When the washing machine is not bein.g used the drum slowly starts to fill with water!!" therefor I think it can be a dafective inlet valve or a faulty control assembly.
In either case, you will need a technician to fix this.

hi if you wash small childrens clothes such as small socks they can get between the door seal and drum. they then get trapped in the rubber hose between the drum and pump which would create the problem you are describing.you would find this hose under the washer.

Hotpoint wf860 - H2O Error Code - Machine is asking for water but draining it straight out

Check that your outlet pipe rises above the stated height on the back of the machine (about 3/4 of the way up). If it is too low, it will siphon the water out of the drum. If you're not sure what height it should be at, raise the top of the pipe (ie where it bends back into the outflow pipe) above the top of the machine (if you have room) or as high as you can. It must be above the height of the drum.

Drying cycle ma;function

The problem lies with the water valve at the water entrance area; trace the pipe from where the water comes to dispenser. This should be done after opening up the top ( careful not to touch any part which could give you electric shock or anything) The pipe where the water gushes should be traced back to the inlet area, you will have to change this valve. To see the gush gently open the dispenser drawer.
