I have a Kenmore Coldspot Refrigerator 106.41214101 (2002). The fan works, but there is no cooling of either the freezer or the refrigerator. The compressor doesn't seem to come on, and is cool when the fan is on. The system doesn't seem to respond to the temperature controls. I'm having trouble getting any repair people now, because of the time of year, so I'd like to diagnoze as much as possible. I have a voltmeter.

Is there a fan in the refrigerator which draws cold air from freezer. If so is fan working, if fan not working may be faulty fan or thermostat. May also be blocked duct from freezer to refrigerator, only there if fan is used as above.

open the freezer door and empty the shelves look at the bottom of the panel in the freezer where the air holes are if it frozen or iced up. thats your problem your air flow is blocked with ice. other possibility would be a fan failure.

Can you hear a small fan blowing air inside the refrigerator? It sounds like the evaporator fan has gone out and it is not transferring the air from the freezer to the refrigerator in order to cool!

Open the freezer door and listen for the fan, is it running?
