I have a logitech z3 subwoofer with a mini-DIN-9 connector socket. It also has a volume control and 110V power cord. As best as i could trace the circuit, and using the TDA7377 stereo bridge amplifier chip datasheet, the pinout for the mini-DIN is as follows (untested):
1: L in (to vol.)
2: R in (to vol.)
3: Power (12V from transformer)
4: Standby (5V to play, 0.05mA; 0V to standby)
5: L out
6: R out
7: Ground
8: Ground
9: Ground

Connecting 3 to 4 with a large resistance (~20K ohms) should enable speaker. Pins 1 and 2 might be swapped; pins 5 and 8 might be swapped. Mini-DIN socket pin holes are numbered right to left, bottom row to top row:
9 8 7
6 5 4 3
2 1

    Hello,
    I have this subwoofer, satellites and cables, and I would like to use only the sub using a 3.5 mm minijack from a PC sound card, of course with the the power supply.
    Could you give me the correct cable design using the mini-dv 9 pin original cable?
    Thank You

SOURCE: logitech x-230 9 pin problem . i need to manualy

worked on this for 3 days but i finaly got it I had to open it an follow coper lines using datasheet, the connector is RS232 the pins are

1 = LED+
2 = IN R
3 = OUT R
4 = OUT L
5 = GND
6 = ON
7 = 5V
8 = GND
9 = IN L

so you have to put a swiths between pin 6 and 7

you should also put a potentiometer GND-IN-(AUDIO SOURCE)

and a led between pin 1 and GND

and that is it!

Add an inline volume controller

Unless you are good a solder then you probably won't be able to do it. You wolud need to solder a potentiometer inline of the + voltage to the speaker. Or solder one inline with the existing one. Potentiometer = voltage control aka volume control.

I have nad tuner 4155,sounds garbled and very little volume

Hi, you might need to replace Some damaged resistor controlling the sound function.
Please if no basic experience ,contact a repairman.

Replacing Damaged Resistors

Disconnect the stereo at the plug and remove the outer case.

Confirm that the resistor is damaged by testing the tolerance with a multimeter. Melt the current solder with an iron and remove the damaged resistor.

Mount the replacement resistor onto the circuit board. Trim any surplus lead material from around it.

"Tin" the tip of the soldering iron by melting a tiny amount of solder directly onto it. Remove any surplus solder and place the tip straight onto the circuit board.

Melt a tiny amount of solder straight onto the joint, using the solder spool. Ensure that the solder does not touch the tip of the iron.

Melt the solder straight onto the area between the resistor lead and the printed circuit board. Leave it to set and ensure that the joint is strong. Reassemble the stereo and test it.

Also Spray the volume control knob with electrical contact cleaner. Twist the knob from low to high to make certain that all the workings are adequately lubricated. This should eliminate any interference that you've experienced when adjusting the volume.

Check the condition of the speaker wires if the stereo is emitting no sound. Ensure that no bare wires are coming in contact with each other. This will result in a dead short. Replace any damaged wires with new ones.

Check the connections of all speaker wires if no damage is detected. Ensure that the wires are securely connected at the back of the stereo and at the speakers' connections. Confirm that the positive and negative connections on the stereo are connected to the corresponding speaker connections.

Good luck..

I need to replace the pigtail and wanted to be sure to connect the wires as they should be connected.

since there is no specific part in a wiring harness called "the pigtail". General wire connection instructions are: Cut back the wire at least 1/2" and wrap the wire ends together. Solder the connection so it has good continuity and won't come apart. Use shrink tubing to protect the joint and also wrap with good quality electrical tape, especially in under-hood areas where moisture can get into a connection. NEVER cut or tap into the heavy yellow wire under the dash. That wire controls the air bag system and tampering can cause it to deploy (very dangerous). Never solder wires together by laying them side by side. They will join, but the solder can act as a fuse and cause problems later.
If working with more than one wire, label them so you know exactly where they went so you can put them back correctly. In systems using computerized controls, a mistake can be costly.

How can i turn down my talk back its too loud

If it was an aftermarket install there may not have been a volume control put on it. Some times not even an on-off switch. To ad a volume control locate the jumper between the External and PA speaker. You can get a volume control at Radio Shack. Locate an area inside the rear panel that will allow the installing of the volume control. Cut the jumper wire and slide shrink tube on wires. Solder a length of wire on each end and solder the other ends to the volume control. You can use bell wire for this purpose or get wire at Radio Shack.

Trying to wire a 56 for a tristar 120. any ideas?

I think you are talking roadking 56, take the end of mike apart, you will need a 4 pin mike end,solder,steady hand,or small clip vise like I use,it takes just a little dab of solder for each wire,don,t over do it,trim each mike wire one eight inch back,slide the mike end on the cord,do not forget the plastic insulator,then solder the white (audio) to pin 1. then solder the shield and red together to pin 2,then solder the black (receive) wire to pin 3, then solder the blue (transmit) to pin 4. Then put it back together. ..hope this helps..

Subwoofer not working

Yea I would say most likely a loose wire going to the bass control, is it accessable to behind the controller easily? if so take a look. they are usually soldered, but it may have been a weak solder point that came loose.

Changed battery---record switch came apart, screen wires came off of mother board.

I have an iQue 3600 apart right now. One of my screen wires has come off the board. There are two large solder pads to the left of the left-most white push button. Red wire goes to the left solder pad; black wire to the right one. You need to strip a little insulation from the wires and solder them back on. If you have not soldered before, find someone to do it for you!

One speaker

the reason would be. 1.the spaker coil is open. 2. the speaker connection to the wire may be dry solder.
