I, too, have lost my manual and none of the timers work. I can never remember how long to run the clean cycle for, but will turn it off as it has been a little over 2hours and your post mentions 1.5hours.
I initiate the cleaning cycle by completing steps mentioned above and then turning the top dial (which has a clean range on it) clockwise until the clean light comes on. I then just time it by my watch to turn it all off. Then I wait a couple of hours before attempting to open the door. Don't forget to take the racks out, they are not suppose to go through the Clean cycle.
Good Luck,
Linda

SOURCE: self cleaning oven directions

Press the self-clean button.  The panel becomes blank(---), then press the up arrow( ^ ).  The panel will appear 3:00 (indication for the duration of self-cleaning). The oven will lock on its own and start the self-cleaning.  Good luck, ya'll!

General Electric P7 Self Cleaning Double Oven 1970s - how does the Temp knob for the oven work? I took it off to clean the knob and now I don’t know how to remount it to have the right temperature. Where...

Remove the knob. Turn the spindle with pliers clockwise until it stops. Then mount the knob so it is just below 200 and that furthest white mark.

Or

You can turn the spindle with pliers to broil and put the knob on to the white dot on Broil.

The thing that puzzles me is that they can normally only go on one way, as the spindle has a flat side and the knob has a corresponding flat edge with a spring. That knob looks like one off an old radio, especially if it has a small screw to tighten it down.

It is similar to my 1970's GE Stove. Still going strong!

I started my oven on ''clean'' -- how long should this take?

Whithout knowing the model number in general it takes several hours for the cleaning cycle. My oven takes approx. 4 hours to complete a good cleaning. On my own oven, you can set the timer for as long as you want. Do you have an owners manual? If not, you can find one here...........
