Hi i guess you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it. To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:

1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
5) Power down the router.
6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.

If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working. If you still have trouble setting up wireless security, please explain exactly what you are trying, and exactly what is (or is not) happening. What exactly is stopping you from setting up wireless security?

If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.

If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.

If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.

Please let me know how things turn out for you.

My Acer Aspire 5336 can't connect to a wireless with a WPA2-PSK security standard. What can I do?

To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Hi. I have just changed my operating system to UBUNTU. I am unable to use the thomson wireless router to connect to the internet. I have been advised I have a pop3.xtra.co.nz connection, without success....

Go into your UBUNTU netwrok settings and make sure the wireless is sending the correct Security and is set to the proper security mode. Unlike the wired connection most wireless connections are protected and require the computer that connects to send the correct key.

My dsi can't connect to the internet using my netgear wgr614 v8 wireless router error code is 51110-1 when selecting an acces point my router has full bars but when trying to connect it has zero.

Your router is using a security method the DS cannot handle, because it does not possess the processing power of modern Laptops or Desktops it is unable to use the more sophisticated encryption and security protocols. Try changing the wireless security to WEP protection.

CAN'T CONNECT TO WIRELESS ROUTER WITH LAPTOP.

Temporarily disable all security on the router AND your laptop wireless card and try again to test connectivity.

The exact error message should be:
"Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you
on to the network [SSID]"

This is caused by setting the encryption to WPA-RADIUS instead of WPA-PSK on the client radio. Both the router and the client are
trying to find a RADIUS server with which to authenticate your system.
Switch the encryption to WPA-PSK (pre-shared key) on both ends and it should30924e8.jpg work.

Also check to make sure that IEEE 802.1x authentication on the wireless network properties Authentication tab is disabled.

D-Link Wireless Router DIR-625 unable to connect with D-Link DWA-130 adapter

Sometimes the security settings will only let certain MAC addresses connect to the network as well as the password protection. Make certain that yours isn't filtering out MAC addresses.

Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (F5D9230-4)

hello!

normally, if you configure the wireless security settings wirelessly, it will automatically disconnect you from the network. you have to input the security key on the laptop first before it connects you back to the network.

i suggest, if you really like to configure the settings of your router, get an ethernet cable, connect it directly to the laptop so you can access and configure the router settings and to avoid from being disconnected
